Q: How do I solder the integrated circuits to these boards?

All that is needed is a basic soldering iron. We prefer to use a small to medium chisel tip but it can successfully be done with others. If you have a board warmer, it can help the solder flow better. See the other FAQs about the flux to use.

Q: What type of flux should I use?

Any type of flux can be used, however, we personally use a water soluble flux. It provides very good solderability and can then be easily washed off with water.

Q: How do the on-board resistor and capacitor pads on the board improve signal quality?

By placing your passive components close to your integrated circuits, without long wires or on a bread board, you are significantly reducing the parasitic resistance, capacitance, and inductance of the wires that can introduce noise and other issues.

Q: The boards came stuck together as one big board. How do I separate them?

The boards are manufactured as an array with pre-cut scoring between boards. When one is needed, simply bend the board back and forth a couple times along those lines and they should easily snap apart. No tools are necessary.
