Fallout Vault Dwellers Official Cookbook Review: Cooking Like a True Vault Dweller – A Must for Fallout Fans - Quick Summary: I just got the cookbook and haven’t made any recipes yet, but I’m excited that I FINALLY got this book. If you want this as a collectible or a taste of what it would be like to set the world on fire, then this cookbook is for you. Why I Bought It: When I tell you that I’ve been trying to get my hands on this book for a year, I’m not joking. This cookbook was sold out every time I looked for it. I absolutely loved Fallout 4, and when the show came out, I was even more excited when a lot of merch came to light. Much to my chagrin, the cookbook was the most popular. I’m happy to add this to my collection. Now, if I can get my hands on a Pip-Boy, we’ll be cooking. First Impressions: Packaging: It wasn’t packaged in any unique way besides packing paper to keep it from moving in the box, and it wasn’t wrapped in plastic. Overall Look: This cookbook definitely has the appeal of a futuristic 1950s era. It has clever descriptions and lore from the vault dweller who wrote it. Recipe Instructions: It provides substitutions on specific recipes for dietary restrictions (see page 9) and S.P.E.C.I.A.L. points for each recipe. Pros & Cons: ✅ It has so many recipes that I wanted to try from the game ✅ I love the descriptions from the Vault Dweller that were added to the recipe. ✅ I finally got my hands on it after a year. I am so happy having it, even if I don’t use it. ❌ It doesn’t have a recipe for a Stealth Boy Best For: ➡️ Fans of the Fallout games or the show. Even ghouls will have fun with this. Final Verdict: ➡️ I recommend it. Once I make something, I’ll see if I can update my review. Perhaps, a Thanksgiving feast? Review: Fun, super unique recipes - Making a cookbook for Fallout must have been kind of hard to write for, considering the food in Fallout is, like, roach meat, so I applaud the author on making some really neat, lore inspired recipes. Some of them are a bit basic. The BlamCo Mac and Cheese is literally just mac and cheese, same with the YumYum Deviled Eggs and several other recipes. But it's more an exercise in imagination. However there are some really interesting recipes in here, especially the drinks.

"Welcome to Vault-Tec life!"
I've had this book for almost two weeks now, and I've enjoyed preparing several meals out of it so far! Each recipe has a full-page picture on the opposite page accompanying it. There are loads of humorous notes and descriptions in the book, as well as some nice artwork on the inside covers and some clever nods to the game (such as the S.P.E.C.I.AL. stats). The quality of the book itself is also great; it's hardcover and printed on high-quality paper. The recipes range from appetizers to desserts and everything in between, and they all have clearly-written instructions including prep time and servings. Some are more difficult to prepare than others but there's many that even a novice cook could pull off with ease. The one thing that was a slight disappointment was that there are few clear instructions on how to adjust the recipes in case you need to substitute ingredients. Some recipes call for ingredients that may be somewhat difficult to find, and having some dietary restrictions myself that may be an issue for some buyers. However, this is a problem I've found with most other cookbooks that aren't specifically tailored for people on a special diet. Overall I think the author did a great job of including a wide variety of recipes, and many of them have ingredients such as coconut milk if you're lactose intolerant. There are even some vegetarian recipes included as well, like the meatloaf. Also, the recipes that call for ingredients such as bison work well with other meats. I tried one with beef and it cooked up wonderfully! Also, as another reviewer mentioned, the Nuka-Cola recipe was more generic than the 17 fruit flavors the game states it has. I wasn't expecting to add 17 different fruits into a drink recipe anyway but there's really only a handful of citrus and cinnamon flavors that come through to differentiate it from regular cola. The Nuka-Cola Quantum recipe seems better in this regard since there's also fruit punch and pomegranate included. Aside from that the drink recipes seem to be tasty, and there's a nice amount that are non-alcoholic as well. I got what I expected and I didn't find the content of the book to be out of setting. For what it is (a Fallout-branded cookbook) I think the author did an excellent job and I've enjoyed flipping through it just to read the notes. If you're either a fan of the game or just a chef looking for some unique spins on recipes (the chili comes to mind) then this is a must-have. Looking forward to the Elder Scrolls one as well!

Great quality
Lots of great recipes from the video game. Some of the favorites are missing but I think there's a second cookbook.

FANTASTIC so far
I've only made two things from this cookbook so far: Nuka Cola, and the Spiced 'Mirelurk' (Crab) Legs recipe. The Nuka Cola is a super interesting flavor. Very complex for a soda, and it works really well. I made it wrong, because for the browning sauce it didn't seem right to use a salty, savory sauce in it, so I thought surely they must have meant the brown sugar-based browning sauce instead, and I couldn't find that. So I used molasses. It still turned out great even if it wasn't as dark as a normal cola, and I would totally make it again, because that flavor is wild. But afterwards I found a post online from the author saying they used the salty, savory browning sauce primarily just for color - so I'll try it again with that, some time. I'm sure it'll still be fantastic, cause it wasn't the molasses flavor that made it so good. The spiced crab legs recipe... oh my god the sauce is one of the best things I've ever tasted in my life. I've been trying it on all kinds of other stuff, and it seems to work on just about everything. Well, everything that a spicy sauce could be good on, anyway. I tried it on crab, garlic bread, salmon, a bison steak, even *pizza rolls*, and it was so unbelievably good on everything. I want to make a whole pizza with it as the sauce... The book is worth it just for the spicy crab sauce. I need to make a lot more of that.

Im a fallout zealot
The fallout,2,bos,tactics,vanburen,3,nv,4,76, that dumb overseer phone game. Iv played me some fallout. Iv got the lunch box set, the platinum chip prerelease PlayStation GameStop exclusive box set that was under produced despite nv not running on PS very well. Got the pip boy, I even had a real pipe rifle back when they were legal. So I had to get the fallout cookbook right?... WTH. How are you going to make a fallout cookbook that doesn't have a single mention of " cram " or utilize any spam in the recipes? It's got no muttfruit. There is a little bit of flavor text throughout the book but most of it isn't even aligned with canon. It's literally a cook book where someone crossed out the name of the recipe and wrote in one to make it sound like fallout. I have to show it Mercy though because it's got old lady Palmer's sweet rolls and deathclaw egg omelettes. Though the recipe for them is kinda weird and not yummy sounding. Who puts yogurt 3 carrots mayonnaise ham chives and flour and a whole apple in an omelette? And paprika, heavy cream, Onion powder, honey, vinegar. No thanks I'm that one. Id buy it as a completionist, but be prepared for a phoned in effort.
