Trixie, Hel and Camero may look good on the outside, but they're nothing but badass on the inside. When the tempting trio arrive in the desert to retrieve stolen jewels at a ruthless gangster's hideout, they find themselves competing against an assortment of bizarre criminals - and each other. But what else can one expect from a down-on-her luck stripper, a drug-running killer and a ball-busting businesswoman? Bounding with violence and excess galore, Bitch Slap is a wildly explosive tribute to the sensationalistic style of the cult exploitation genre and a modern throwback to the "B" movie film genre. Review: That was unexpectedly excellent. - I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting when I rented Bitch Slap, besides of course beautiful women romping around in inappropriate clothing, which I got in abundance, but I sure wasn't expecting to enjoy this movie as much as I did. Nor did I expect such an in-depth, amusing, and unusually long "making of" special feature. I certainly wasn't expecting some of the candid reveals the heroines give in their voice-over (1 of 2 excellent audio commentary tracks). And I sure never expected to then rush out and buy this modern-day homage to the sexploitation films of my youth, but it was so fun I couldn't resist. Bitch Slap is by no means perfect. Its very low budget meant the makers had to live with some scene continuity issues that a more flush production would have fixed. The green screen work was at times painfully obvious, but I personally found that it added to the overall and over the top camp the film embraced. Some will disagree. Some might also be disappointed with an almost complete lack of nudity (there is a half-second blip of a nipple in a bar scene), but on this topic I think Slap's creators were spot on. The lack of nudity is much like the fabled Persian Flaw - a purposeful mar introduced so as not to offend the gods with man-made perfection. The female leads are so gorgeous, frankly, that had they bared all I would still be watching that movie. I'm sure the producers wanted to avoid lawsuits involving >4hour erectile issues. Also, and I mean this with all sincerity, Bitch Slap is not a bad date movie. Add nudity, however, and your female friend goes from thinking "I totally want to be that kick-ass chick" to "e[...] porn". To be clear, Bitch Slap is first and foremost a movie about hot women in skimpy clothes being bad-asses. If that doesn't sound like your cup of tea, well... I feel a little sorry for you and you should probably skip this movie. If, on the other hand, you're looking for a movie that actually manages to pay loving tribute to the sexploitation genre without itself being just another bad, B-movie then this is a must see. My only real complaint, and it's actually quite a big one, is that Bitch Slap does not seem to be available in Blu-Ray. For a movie that is in almost every sense of the word, beautiful, that I can't be watching the greatest cat-fight in history on Blu-Ray hi-def is a crime. Of course, what I'm really grumpy about is that I'm going to be buying this movie twice when the Blu-Ray version does come out. Oh well. Life's a Bitch. Review: Revelatory use of t!+s and guns - Bitch Slap is my kind of B-movie. Hot ass-kicking chicks is pretty high on my list in criteria for an awesome movie. Three fetching young ladies are after $200 million in diamonds, which takes place at the "bad guy's" (Gage, Michael Hurst, although I can only think of one "good guy" in this flick) compound in the desert. Of course, the story veers off into various directions, mostly through a series of progressively reversing flashbacks. They're all done in front of a green screen, which effectively gives it a Sin City feel. What's not to like here? It's over-the-top, super-gratuitous, bloody, violent, plenty of action, the writing is fun, great flashbacks, campy, there is lesbian action, as well as great characters. I love the sound effects whenever a woman is hit in the chooch! And there is an entire break where the girls just pour buckets of water on each other. America Olivo (Camero) is aces at playing the hot butt-kicking psycho be-yotch (check her out in Neighbor for a similar character portrayal). I was shocked to learn she only got this part after someone else backed out. There is also a crazy, butt-kicking Japanese chick (Kinki, Minae Noji) with a killer yo-yo. Maybe every character is crazy, when you get right down to it. This movie even had a good soundtrack. Extended catfights to screaming metal? Yes, please. There is a stellar hour and 40 minute making-of extra on the Blu-ray worth checking out. It is totally clip-free! Nothing irks me more than an extra packed with clips from a movie I just watched. Again, the music they use is great, too. I feel bad for all the 1-star reviewers with no joy in their lives. This is an excellent modern-day exploitation picture (well, minus the nudity, but with an overabundance of cleavage and hot outfits).

NO ONE WILL GET HURT
Three bodacious young ladies are out in the desert looking for the treasure that belongs to Gage( Michael Hurst). The story is being told as a flashback from the opening scene. During this time we have repeated flashbacks to bring out plot points. As a grindhouse, the plot tends to be secondary to the violence, blood, and male fantasy. This one is no different as the plot is immaterial to the enjoyment of the individual scenes with nuns and a Japanese school girl with a killer yo-yo. The treasure belongs to the legendary "Pinky" a Keyser Söze type character. The film is for people who like to watch cat fights and cleavage. The girls douse themselves with water at the 38 minute mark. There is the typical grindhouse type of humor and those with a stop motion might want to check out the writing on Trixie's (Julia Voth) panties: Puffy P****. I love the girls in a vintage T-bird, a muscle machine for chicks. The film is a grindhouse romp. Parental Guide: F-bomb. girl/girl sex. Rather disappointing brief nudity (Saranne Lund)

I LIKE IT!

Have long anticipated this movie. I thought it was going to get cinema distribution here in the UK but it didn't and went straight to DVD and maybe I can understand why now - it's not built on solid commercial family film lines! However let's put the record straight here. This disk has without any doubt, in my opinion, the best Behind the Scenes bonus footage ever. It is a gem and so unique that I recommend that it is watched BEFORE you watch the main film. Yes it sounds strange but I didn't and on seeing the movie itself it came across as basically as such a visual extravaganza of grindhouse sleaze that I couldn't make any hook of empathy with any of the characters or the concept behind the movie and absolutely failed to make the connection in casting with 2 very well known TV series (I don't want to give anything away which might spoil a fresh viewers' enjoyment!) I then watched the bonus BTS stuff and the whole project came alive in such a unique way that I had to see the movie again and I absolutely loved it in a way which had a depth of vision that I hadn't appreciated the first time around. OK - maybe I'm thick but I have come to the conclusion that - in time - this movie - and other similars - like Sin City, The Spirit, Planet of Terror, etc - will come to be regarded as 2000 classics. Ironic I know since they celebrate an earlier B Movie genre but the truth is that these (like Jackie Brown by Tarantino) do it so much better they are true cinematic gems.
