Worked surprisingly well!
I didn't have any experience with henna, so I didn't know what to expect. Going off the instructions, I was only supposed to get minimal grey coverage because I'm more than 50% grey. I got nearly full grey coverage! Some hairs at the temples didn't get covered, but that was mostly due to the positioning of the plastic cap. All in all, I was really pleased with the result. The only thing I would add is because of the texture of the paste, I was concerned about my drain getting clogged during the rinse out (old house). Next time, I'll use a strainer.

No, no, no!
I have not written a bad review yet, but I feel that I needed to do it for this product. First of all I'm African American and didn't want to damage my hair anymore from the occasional chemical dyes. So I've been trying henna for about 5 years. I always buy it from Henna Hut! I love henna huts dyes (indigo, but I'm not to fond of the price. Since I buy a ton of things online I decided to watch my budget and purchase a cheaper alternative. I have super, super thick hair--even though I just cut it to about ear length. First of all, the product didn't come close to covering all of my hair--even after watering it down just a (little) more than the consistancy said, but I felt was still within thier guidelines. I REALLY struggled to get it all in my hair. Secondly, I HATED the grittiness of it. It feels like applying a mud paste with sand in it. I also didn't like the fact that I had to shampoo my hair before applying (It dripped EVERYWHERE, no matter how hard I wrapped my hair). I followed the directions and left it one for an hour (I am used to the henna I usually get to come out extremely black, like jet black, so I didn't leave it on longer). I had to use soooo much conditioner to get it out of my hair it wasn't even funny (even though the color was no longer showing up, the grittiness got stuck on my scalp not matter how much I scrubbed). After my hair dried, not only was it slightly dyed (wasteful), but my hair was dull and after straightening it my hair was stiff, tangled feeling and just plain strange. My hair is usually silky and shiny after I straighten my hair (since I cut it, I can run my fingers withot getting tangles....Nope not anymore). I even washed it out again the next day...no change, it still feels gross. I just hope my hair turns back to it's original state. Oh yeah and after three days, my hair already faded back to it's original color :( I'm very unhappy with this product. I guess I will be sticking to Henna Hut (I'm sorry I betrayed you).

Blk woman transitioning! love it!
I am a blk woman transitioning to natural! This was my first time to henna, but it was a great experience. The henna was a different texture than I imagined. I thought that it would be like yogurt, but it is grainy! I applied it like you would a relaxer all the way through the ends. It does have a green color in the bowl, but my hair came our black and shiny! I luv it! It was really messy though... I would recommend that you get someone to help you ... maybe have a henna party! The seller got the henna to me quickly ... I will buy again.

went from dull dark brown to shiny black
My experience with indigo (black) colora henna: First off, I bought 2 boxes and I'm glad I did because I have long hair with average thickness and I don't think 1 box would have cut it. If you have long or thick hair I would suggest buying 2 boxes. You will easily use all the mixture. Prep: I put some Vaseline around my hairline to eliminate some staining around my face, neck and ears. I also put on some clothes that I wouldn't mind staining if any henna were to get on them. I didn't wear any gloves and the mixture stained my hands a greenish color for the day. No big deal but wear gloves if you want to avoid this. Mixing: I added hot water to the mix until soupy as directed. Putting the mixture on my hair was a bit difficult because it felt like I couldn't quite get it incorporated into all of my hair. This may be my own fault. Perhaps I didn't water it down quite enough? Make sure you add plenty of water so that you can get it into all of your hair. After I applied it as best I could, I wrapped my hair well in saran wrap. I also wrapped a strip of cotton around my hairline and pinned it at the top of my head to catch any dripping. That worked wonderfully and was very comfortable to me. This may sound obvious, but do this all in the bathroom and don't get any on the floor as it may stain. You could put some newspaper down to make sure you avoid that if you're worried. All in all it's not that difficult to do it yourself but it gets tricky around the back area. If you have a friend who can help that's always a plus. :) Waiting time: I left it in my hair for about 2 hours. End result: Rinsing my hair took a bit of patience. I used extra conditioner to help remove the little particles from the mixture which worked well. I blow dried and styled as usual. The color is subtle but drastic enough to know the difference. It looks very natural and healthy right now. Shiny and very soft. I love henna and the fact that it's all natural makes me love it all the more. No more harmful chemicals!! Hopefully the color sticks around for awhile. If so, I'll definitely do this again. The seller shipped my item fast and their pricing is very reasonable. Satisfied customer! UPDATE: 12/29/09 My hair is no longer even remotely black in color or tint. This stuff wears off fast. I'm not sorry that I tried it because it wasn't expensive but I won't use the product again because it just doesn't last long enough. It would be worth it if the color lasted for at least a month but a little over a week just doesn't cut it. :)

Complete waste of money. This is a useless product I am sorry to report.
1) This henna is very gritty and thus extremely difficult to apply and rinse out of your hair. 2) The black henna gave no coverage on grey hairs; it turned the hairs an ashy, dirty grey. The red henna produced no appreciable color at all. 3) This was my third time giving Colora Henna a try. Never again. Unfortunately, I bought a few packs so I will have to eat the cost.
