5.11 Operator Compact Tactical Axe, Style 51144, Black

This is a great multi-tool/hatchet. It's fairly small, so you won't be cutting down large trees with it, but it will take down saplings with ease. If find it more useful than a camp knife. There's not much you can't do with and the build quality is extremely durable. The sheath is very safe but the latching button is a little tricky to figure out at first. I keep it in my bug out bag and the size and weight are minimal. Having a pry bar built in is brilliant.The only thing I did, which was easy, was to wrap the handle in paracord which makes it easier to hold and gives your hand a bit of break when you chop wood with it. I also added a lanyard for extra safety. It is clearly more of a tool than a weapon, but it would more than do the job if you needed to defend yourself with it. The price is a little steep, but upon opening you soon realize this is not some made in China crap. It's very well made and seems practically indestructible.

Really really? A $300 increase in one day. Forget it

It was exactly what I was looking for but when it arrived the black finish was chipped and scratched across some of the handle and the head of the axe (I believe the sheath fit is too tight and scratches as it goes in and out). So I ordered a replacement and it had the same scratches on the head but was missing the screwdriver bit and the rubber band that keeps it in place. Very disappointed with the quality of the product and the response from the seller (sending me an incomplete set as a replacement for one that already had an issue).

Still looking for a good sheath to attach to plate carrier.

handy, light weight, multi use tactical sheath for quick drawing. Self Defence, Wood prosessing, entry/pry tool, demolition tool, throws well.
