Excellent Bathroom Heater
I was using a 1500W ceramic heater to heat our bathroom. I'd turn it on about a half hour before I wanted to take a shower but would often get delayed or forget and it'd run for hours. Now I turn on the Broan heater as I enter to shave or take my shower and turn it off when I am finished. 500w for 25 minutes is much cheaper than 1500w for 1-3 hours. I have each bulb and the vent fan on separate switches so I can control what runs. 500w directly overhead is very efficient and I suspect will be overkill in warmer seasons. It definitely knocks the chill off the room. I especially like that it has 2 heat sensors, either of which will turn on the fan if necessary to ensure the enclosure doesn't overheat if I'm only using the heat lamps. Installation was very easy with adequate adjustments to make everything fit and look great. The wiring illustrations were clear for the various optional configurations.

Great light & fan. Instructions might be difficult for some.
Great price. Easy to replace my existing broken exhaust fan from attic side of ceiling. Used triple switch to wire lights and fan individually. Wiring instructions are vague on how exhaust fan thermostat works so separating them might be difficult for those unfamiliar with electrical. So, if you can't figure it out, you probably shouldn't be fooling with wiring anyway. Also, the plastic damper door on exhaust is very flimsy, mine broke when I tried to put it back together after it fell out while in the attic with low light. I should have taken my time to reinstall door because I had to modify the broken door to fit upside down which took a couple of hours. The lights and fan work great once installed correctly. The unit I bought was used/new/open and slightly bent, but easy to straighten. Happy with outcome.

Pretty Good Value
I bought this item to replace a 25 year old fan/light/heater in a very small bathroom. It has two light sockets so I put a light in one and a clear heat lamp in the other. The heat was very minimal, so I went to the store and bought a red heat lamp to replace the light. That left me with a clear heat lamp and a red heat lamp. The heat is acceptable now with both on. We'll see when winter rolls around again. The clear heat lamp does double duty as the light. Everyone who has seen it likes the modern look. The fan works well and is a lot quieter than the old one. As for the install, the instructions with the unit has a wiring diagram, but did not tell me what color wire went with each feature. I'm not an electrician so it was hard to figure it out. I had a friend come over and look at it, and we figured this out: Black and Yellow - Heat lamp (One of these wires is the overload that turns on the fan if it gets too hot.) Blue - Fan White - Neutral (There are two of these) Red - Light/other heat lamp Green - Ground Once we got past that, the installation was pretty simple, although the unit was smaller than the one I took out so a little sheet rock work was needed. We also had a pipe in the attic that prevented us from fitting the unit easily between the joists so we had a cut about three inches from the braces to make it slide in under the pipe. Overall for the money, this is a nice unit. I bought two, so I'll be installing again in another bathroom soon.

Nice and warm even on a higher ceiling
Replaced a weak fan that was over the toilet, went up into the attic to stabilize & separated switches for fan/heat. Smooth fan sound and made a big temperature difference while soaking in our tub. Gives a warm glow output that’s not too bright, great buy!

It's okay...
Installed during major bath remodel. Changed shower tub area to wet room style and no longer have a shower door to close. The tub/shower "wet" area is about 6' x 9'. We felt the heat may be a necessary addition and it seems to work pretty good (using with 2 - 250 watt heat lamps). Ceiling height is 8 feet and not sure how well it would do with something higher. Also, in open wet room concept, if cold natured you should consider a forced air electric heater. Need to mount from attic if not new construction. Also should control heat lamp 1, heat lamp 2 and fan separately. That will a 3 rocker switch (Broan sells these) or 3 separate switches and likely additional wiring. When operating heat for a short period of time the heat builds up in the housing and the fan turns on automatically to remove that heat (obviously with the fan switch off). If heat lamps are left on, the on-off fan frequency is a little excessive, as is the fan noise.

Same great design..after all these years... with a few updates.
I originally bought this for parts to swap out with my older NuTone 9427p, but unfortunately, the cover is not supplied with the older V-type springs. The older style cover, NuTone S89260000, is available but I only found it for $85 on Amazon. The fan motor does appear however to be an easy swap if you have the old mounting bracket. The bulb mounts in the newer unit appear to be better quality, so if you can figure out how to swap those too, it will keep the bulbs from flopping around as much.

A great bargain at $53
This product works well in the bathroom it is located in, where there are no long steamy baths. At 70 cubic feet per minute, it evacuates steam pretty well for most bathers, except for my son who likes 40 minute baths, who generates too much steam for a 70 cfm fan but seldom bathes in this room. The product is good looking, especially with the red heat lamp bulb installed, which along with a regular lamp bulb in the other socket gives the ceiling a deluxe appearance, with twin lights in a nice surround. Most of the time we keep the heat lamp from switching on by backing the bulb out enough so it does not make electrical contact. During winter, however, the forced air central heating does a poor job heating this room, and the heat lamp then becomes useful. HINT CONCERNING PLACEMENT OF THIS FAN/LIGHT UNIT In this bathroom, the face of the bathroom user is illuminated by lights around the washbasin mirror, while the Broan fan/light unit is set back in a ceiling recess about four feet from the wall on which the washbasin is located, providing good light to the rest of the room. NOTE TO MANUFACTURERS: I wish that bathroom fan manufacturers would install a fan speed control, so as to adjust for the volume of steam created, and to allow rapid evacuation of steam when the room gets clouded too much.

Needs an electrician (like a real one)
All the people complaining that it burns out, well there’s many ways to set up the lights and heater, get an electrician to do it! My electrician said that only one of the sockets is set up for heat, the other is for a light. Do not put heat in both or it will give you problems is my guess. It’s been working for months here. The heat is not too warm, but better than nothing. Seriously get an electrician to install it if you want it to work.
