Vitapur Water Filtration System, Clear

Loved the concept and this product delivers! I have this cooler and was having 5 gal jugs delivered by a company and my water tasted like plastic. I came across this filter and was so excited. It will be cheaper to use my tap water and have it filtered. The water is so clean and clear and it tastes good. Installation was a bit tricky. I was out of town so my daughter installed. She had to YouTube several videos to find one like our cooker. You had to pull out the piece on the cooler in order to put the filter on. The piece does not lock down or click- the weight holds it in place. Great item!

*Update 2/3026: Over the last year or more, it's been very easy to source filter replacements about $20 each. Bumping review to five stars The Vitapur GFW8BLK offers good performance, and I appreciate its straightforward setup process and the good quality of the water it produces. However, a significant drawback is the difficulty in sourcing replacement filters, which are often out of stock. When available, the cost of these filters can fluctuate considerably, ranging from $30 to $55, which is a considerable expense considering the entire unit, including a filter, is priced at $65.

Love this! I have waited for this product. The one thing about dispenser water is that most units do not filter and when they do it is usually because they are attached to a water line and there is a filter system between the dispenser and the line. Outside of the system itself. This becomes part of your water system and does not add other parts to worry about since the filter is incorporated in the water jug. Easy to install and has the ability to fit a number of designs of water cooler units. Nice.

I felt compelled to review this purchase because I recently tested my water filters. I bought this system 05/2022. Now, over 3 years later, and about half way through the life of my most recent 6 month filter, it is still going strong. Besides drinking/cooking, I use this for my pets, plants, spray bottles… etc. I don’t live in an area where the water quality is poor, just a strong chlorine smell/taste? But the thing is- I didn’t realize how bad it was until I owned this system. The shower filter did not test as well.

This seems like such a great product as I have a bad back and can't really lift the heavy jugs onto my top load dispenser. The problem is the lid would not close properly. There is always this gap that is about 1 inch. This obviously defeats the purpose of having a lid since dust and other things (dog hair included) can fly into your water. I tried all the possible ways to fix it because I really like this product. Initially I thought I just got a faulty one and got a couple others but out of approximately 4 that I ordered, only 1 of them came with a proper lid. That was a couple months ago, the lid is now also slowly coming apart as well. Unfortunately, the quality control department is not doing much if the majority of their products are coming out faulty. I would love to buy this again if they're able to fix the issue, as this is still a great idea for a product.

The only problem I've had while using, is the lid just won't close all the way. But otherwise, I'm pretty satisfied.

I am a bit disappointed in what I paid for this to not have the lid close properly. It seems it’s a common issue and that’s not cool. The water taste great so that’s good. My concern is that I have dogs, one of which sheds and dog hair ends up everywhere, even the smallest unimaginable places and it drives me insane but I love my fur babies. I’m on the fence about this. I sure wish it fully functioned as demonstrated and as it should.

We’re very happy with this filter. Will be purchasing again.
