Dean UKE DS MAH Soprano Ukulele ()

Worth the price. Easy to play with decent construction.

I love my uke! I'm no expert, just a beginner, but am still happy with this instrument after 6 months. Keep in mind, I've never taken any music lessons so I can't say I really know what I'm talking about, but- here's my experience with this instrument. I purchased my Dean locally after trying out many of the commonly found beginner ukuleles in my price range, my feelings were: Kalas felt somehow heavy, muffled, clunky and off balance to me. The colorful dolphin/shark ukes were too lightweight and plastic, had a somewhat plastic-y sound, and I didn't really care for the styling. Lanikai has the new "TunaUke" feature, which seems to over-complicate re-stringing and tuning. My opinion of the Luna is that they put more attention on decoration and sacrifice the overall design/build/sound. Ona additional featureon this Dean that i like- the inlaid dots on the side of the neck are not something I've seen on every low priced uke, and those can be very helpful to a beginner in finding the right fret quickly.

The media could not be loaded.  I always tend to be dubious when guitar makers get on the ukulele bandwagon with a range of models. they are usally roughly made, over built and pretty poor. Fair play to Dean for getting this one right in many ways. Well built, loud and resonant. Sure its not a characterful tone, but it is only £40 and laminate.
