AquaClear 20 Zeo-Carb

Wow, I was amazed by this product. Fits perfectly in the filter box of my 10 gallon glow fish tank. It rinsed totally clear after 5 minutes (in comparison to another brand that turned everything black in the aquarium). Although the chemical levels were fine in the tank before, the water kept getting murky after only a few days. This filter media cleared up the water completely in about 24-36 hours. Not the best pictures, but the water is crystal clear, and my son’s fish are happy and healthy.

Can open up and use the AquaClear 20 Zeo-Carb straight from the box. I just rinsed it in a small amount of aquarium water before putting it in the filter. Works great.

Keeps my tank clear and helps me control ammonia while cycling.

I do not normally write reviews but I think it is important to warn people of this product. I bought 3 of these thinking it would be a good replacement for the carbon that I normally use. I installed this during my monthly water and filter change in my betta tank, which also had 2 Otto catfish. None of the other products were new that I used in the tank. An hour later all my fish were gasping for air at the surface of the tank. I checked all my water parameters… everything was perfect. Confused, I changed more water. This seemed to help temporarily and I went to bed. Next morning, my fish were all barely moving. At this point I suspected this filter media. I removed this product from the filter and it spewed a bunch of stuff into the tank during removal (yes, I rinsed it originally). I replaced it with a carbon filter but the damage had already been done. Whatever spewed into the tank killed my 2 Otto catfish. I noticed these previously healthy fish were bleeding out of their gills upon removal. Yet… my ammonia levels etc. was still perfect. In desperation, I placed my betta in a bowl and emptied and cleaned the entire tank. My betta is now doing much better and I think he will survive. I re-used all the other chemicals that I normally use after I cleaned the tank. So, I have no doubt it was this stuff that killed my fish. I’m just thankful I never used this stuff in my 55 gallon!In conclusion- lost 2 fish, now have to cycle my 10 gallon tank and lost my entire weekend!
