Ski Queen, Gjetost Cheese, 8.8 Ounce

My daughter and I went on a cruise to Antarctica. The trip was sensational! and one of the takeaways was that onboard the 5-star kitchened ship, an abundant Charcuterie was set out for us at every meal. On that board, we discovered this caramelly, sweet, creamy Gjetost. At every meal, we had a cube or more. Neither of us had ever had it before. So, when I got home, I started looking for it. And, of course, Amazon has it. I've been ordering this cheese for both my daughter and myself for over a year now. I keep some in the fridge for guests (if we ever get to have guests and family at home again . . . . this pandemic!!) - and so with no guests, I've got the whole block of sweet cheese to myself. This cheese is divine by itself, sided with grapes and a nice salami but I'm having it now on grilled cheese sandwiches, on toasted cheese with avocado, with cheese and jelly! It's so creamy, that it melts kindly on toast and works as a spread (bring it to room temp) on baguettes. Give it a try. Yes, you'll be remembering it for a long time.

Haven't tasted it yet, but it looks fine. The price is through the roof. I ate this as a little girl in Norway and this was traditional among all families because all could afford it.

I picked this up to make a carnivore dieters dessert. I did a 14 or 16 day fast, and when I started eating again my body flat out told me 'NO!' to certain foods. Apparently Milk. Unfortunately cheese. Yep. Guess what else my body said no to? Bacon/Pork. Oh. Egg whites also (the dogs aren't complaining). And Sugar. Most foods in fact. How can I eat the cow but the cows milk say's - No You Don't? Chicken is good...as long as its not breaded. Fish? Same. I'll live with this though. 40 lbs within a month. 40 more to go since my body wants to lose weight. Easiest diet EVER! Crazy, since I wasn't on a diet.

One of our favorite cheeses. We used to be able to buy at the grocery but now must order online. Now it is twice as expensive as it was so we won't be buying often if at all.

We purchased this originally from The Cheese Lady in Grand Rapids. The cheese was great and we wanted more, but couldn't find it in our area so as we so often do - headed to Amazon. We got it at a good price and it was delivered promptly and it is even better now that our Michigan apples are ready. A small square of this cheese and a slice of apple is a taste treat that can't be believed. It's like a caramel apple, but not sticky and the only sugar is the natural flavor from the apple. Yum yum yum. This cheese will be in our refrigerator from now on. That's for sure. We took it on a trip and shared with some friends and they all agreed that it was great. The price seems high, but a little bit of this cheese goes a long way.

As many reviewers have stated, they ship this expensive goat/cow milk cheese without refrigeration or insulation even though the top of the square says to keep refrigerated. People less familiar with this product may mistakenly eat spoiled cheese. It was fulfilled and shipped by Amazon, so maybe try a vendor that actually ships properly. The cheese is worth the price when handled properly. Even though it comes in a small square, it is supposed to be shaved thinnly and has a lot of flavor in a small piece.

Ski Queen cheese is a melt in your mouth cheese just like chocolate but better. It is a hard cheese to find so I stock up when I find it. I have eaten Ski Queen cheese for approximately 50 years. Excellent tasting cheese.
