Original Prusa MK4S 3D Printer, Ready-to-use FDM 3D Printer, Assembled and Tested, Removable Print Sheets, 1kg Prusament PLA Spool Included, Print Size 9.84 x 8.3 x 8.6 in

I've been 3D printing for about 3 years and have used an Anycubic Kobra Max...whcih I thought was a great printer but it has issues (like I had to replace the printhead 3 times, failed adhesion, etc.) so I thought it was time to look for a replacement. I spent several months doing research, reading reviews, etc. I decided to go with a Prusa MK4S. I got it yesterday and the set up was a 9.7 out of 10. The instructions for attaching the spool arm could have been better but all in all, it was truly out of box, plug in, and print (after an easy selftest) but that is not the point of this review...this is:I ran the first suggested print and it was VERY easy. Some points I want to note:1) The menu is quite easy to follow2) The ease of installing filament was drop dead simple3) The fact the print head set up the filament AND cleaned off the test run was stunning4) The 'self check' during print set up was a tad noisy but tolerable5) The printing was very smooth and quickAll sounds good so far but wait...Ok, the 'test' print went well but let's try a tough one. I choose a complex print of a nice 'pencil' cup with dragons all over it. (The Anycubic required supports). What amazed me was the cup print seems to NOT ask for supports even though there were overhangs. Ok...let see how this goes...The cup took 12 hrs and WOW! Talk about amazing difference! The Anycubic did well but you could tell it was a 3D print...nice but 8 out of 10 for smoothness/etc. This one (MK4S) was stunning! It needed ZERO supports and the print was so smooth I had to run my hand over it to recheck...nope! No lumps, bumps, ridges! This is an amazing printer!So sturdy, so easy to set up, and SO much better in print quality. Downside? $500 vs $1,200. It is an expensive printer but the quality shows! Can I recommend the MK4S? Absolutely! If you can afford it then by all means get this printer!

When they say don't leave the printer unattended they mean it. That 16 hour print you have running, yep you need to watch that the entire time else you run the risk of the blob of death. And health wise you don't want to be anywhere near a 3d printer due to the plastic fumes and particles filling the air. Then you have to spend hundreds of dollars to fix the print head that has shattered and broke because of the plastic blob that grew. Fortunately my blob death within the return window. And their replacement parts are expensive too.I'll come back to 3d printing when they have figured out a way to determine that your print has gone awry and can automatically stop the process. Otherwise it just keeps printing itself to death.
