Why did I buy this product? Because I make international flights on a regular basis. For travel, noise canceling headphones are a must-have, but most are now bluetooth. Unfortunately, most cattle class seats have infotainment systems that only provide mini-jack outputs. Enter this device as the perfect solution! At least in my opinion. This device allows me to plug-in to the output jack on an aircraft without the inconvenience of wires. It has several domestic uses, specifically provided a bluetooth interface to older audio equipment, PC's that don't have bluetooth, and (some) tablets. Does it work? Yes, no reservations. Fully charged, the battery was only 50% drained at the end of a 10 hour flight to London from Phoenix, AZ. I used this device in conjunction with my iPad mini, the aircraft infotainment system and even my PC at home. Binding was fast and effortless. Recommend you read the instructions because although binding and unbinding is easy (and works) the unit itself has a minimum of controls and you need to know what you're doing! I really can't speak to quality or range, but at least up to around ten to fifteen feet it was working fine, and sound quality was excellent without drop-out or interference. Can I listen to music while the unit is attached to a charger? Yes you can. This was a worry for me, especially since I forgot to recharge before the return trip. So I attached to a USB-C power bank and absolutely no problem, throughout charging, the unit worked fine. BTW, many airlines seem to be banning the use of power banks on or onto their aircraft - just another nuisance to check on before you fly! Do I know how much power is left? Yes, there are 4 white LED's which tell you how much charge you've got on the device. The top-most illuminated LED flashes until the next level is reached or the unit is fully charged. Finally, can two people listen to the same audio? Yes, my wife and I watched a video on the plane, with both of us wearing Bose NC headphones in bluetooth mode. The unit provides two, simultaneous links so for me that was the final box ticked. Some widgets are hard to use, but this one is well thought out and easy.

These work very well and are a huge upgrade to flying on long flights. No more blasting your eardrums with the cheap headphones they give/sell on the flight. Connection is super easy and consistent. I'm glad I got them.

So far these are the best. I’ve went through two of the Airfly and struggle to connect via Bluetooth. It was very frustrating but Avantree is easy to pair and very intuitive. I decided to give these a try because i have a pair earphones from Avantree that i use in my home gym and they work and sound great. I hope this helps.

This pairs well with most devices, but had problems with Bose QC earbuds. Latency is the lowest I have encountered with the right earbuds, but varies with others that are supposed to be ultra low latency. Battery life is around 15 hours between charges. Sounds quality is good.

This relay works great with our laptops! The instructions were concise, clear, and both sets of our ear buds were very easy to pair and use with it. We can now watch our downloaded movies on our flights with each of us having our own set of earbuds instead of having to share one set, lol. We especially appreciated how the instructions boldly point out to turn off our phone Bluetooth during pairing because that causes 90% of problems...sure enough, that instantly worked. We also like the included charging cable, plane adaptor and sturdy zippered carrying case.

Relay set-up wouldn't complete the connection at first; however, when I first used it on the airplane, it worked perfectly and was easy to use. Just plugged it into the airplane IFE and it connected automatically to my headphones.

First of all, it is tiny! The Amazon photos make it look about twice larger than it is. Which is not enough plastic for what it costs, frankly. More importantly, it did connect at home to a pair of AirPods Pro 2 as intended by following the online instructions (which is a plus), and, technically, it could have been used for its main purpose on an upcoming flight to some degree of satisfaction. However, there is a very audible radio interference hiss, including Morse codes (!) picked up by the device, with the transmitter apparently seconding as a sensitive antenna (the interference volume would change while moving the dongle in space). It also picks up interference from the audio source itself (cassette player had more of it than, say, iPhone). It would be interesting to know how much of it will be on the plane, with hundreds of in-seat entertainment systems and cellphone in close proximity, and powerful plane radios too, but I am not up to the experiment. The transmitter's volume has to be lowered to at most 25% to minimize that interference hiss, which means the volume on the audio source must be maxed. But then the final volume on the AirPods ends up to be, probably, 40% of its maximum, and I am not sure it will be enough for the loud environment on the plane, even with ANC. Also, I checked it with a conversation video on YouTube, and the lag between the lip movements and the speech sounds was very significant - at least half a second, which can be very annoying while watching a movie. Overall, it is a return, and I am back to searching for a perfect airplane bluetooth dongle.

Bought it for a recent long airplane ride from Dubai to Canada. Was Flying on ITA Airways. Didn't need to use because ITA allows direct bluetooth connection, but I tested it on my laptop and it worked as stated. Only problem is trying to remember the directions to connect/pair since I don't use it very often.

Ich habe mir den Adapter primär für die Nutzung auf Langstreckenflügen zugelegt. Mein Fazit nach 2 Mittel- (> 3 Std.) und 3 Langstreckenflügen (> 8 Std.): Top! Für mich ist es ein Gamechanger, endlich meine Bluetooth-Kopfhörer (JBL Live Pro 2) mit dem Bordentertainment verbinden zu können - um einerseits Filme in besserer Tonqualität genießen zu können, aber auch eventuelle Störgeräusche ausblenden zu können. Folgende Kriterien waren entscheidend dafür, dass ich mich für den Avantree Relay entschieden habe: - lange Akkulaufzeit: wird mit ca. 20 Stunden angegeben. Kombi aus Mittel- und Langstrecke mit in der Summe je 14-18 Stunden hat das Gerät anstandslos mitgemacht! - schnelles Wiederaufladen: wird mit ca. 20 Minuten angegeben. Ich habe keine Stoppuhr gestellt, aber es geht wirklich verdammt schnell, bis das Gerät wieder einsatzberei ist, nachdem der Akku leer war. - Low Latency-Unterstützung: Ich war im Vorfeld etwas skeptisch, da ich immer wieder von Verzögerungen bei der Ton- im Vergleich zur Bildübertragung gelesen habe. Um diese zu vermeiden, müssen sowohl Bluetooth-Adapter als auch Kopfhörer diese Funktion unterstützen. Bei mir hat das mit dem Avantree in der Kombi mit dem JBL Live Pro absolut einwandfrei funktioniert! - Design und Funktionen: ich empfinde es als praktisch, dass man auch am Adapter eine Möglichkeit zur Lautstärkeregulierung hat. Allgemein ist der Adapter nicht nur klein und leicht, sondern wirkt auch wertig verarbeitet und ist intuitiv bedienbar. In blau passt er sogar farblich zu meinen Kopfhörern! Das war zwar kein Kriterium, ist aber trotzdem nett ;-) Der Artikel war gut verpackt und der Lieferumfang umfasst neben dem Adapter selbst auch noch ein Ladekabel und einen Dual-Aux-Adapter, dazu noch ein kleines Täschchen, in dem sich alles für die Reise perfekt verstauen lässt. Von mir eine klare Kaufempfehlung - ich bin wirklich sehr zufrieden.
