A "waist" of money
Never tried these on so I don't really know about the fit. What I do know is that the pants material may be 100% cotton in the black color (my order) but the exposed inside elastic waistband might as well be barbed wire lubricated with poison ivy. I should have paid attention to certain previous reviewers. Returning for refund. Exchange? No way. A few more cents invested by Champion to line the inside waistband with cotton would result in more sales, happier customers, a much better product and much better reviews, not to mention profits. Does anyone at Champion read this stuff?

Good quality, comfortable waistband
I buy jersey pants to wear under my hockey equipment. Generally a pair lasts between 1.5-2 years. I'd had the old Champion model with the covered waistband in the past, and found it to be acceptable for my purpose. Therefore, I did not hesitate to buy the same brand again. Only after I placed my order did I read the reviews about the design change and a rough, scratchy exposed elastic waistband that was driving people crazy. My skin tends to be sensitive anyway, so needless to say I was worried that this would be a problem for me. I move an awful lot while wearing these, which would give the elastic band plenty of opportunity to rub my waist raw.For me, the waistband issue has been a total non-issue. I've worn them multiple times now, and have had none of the issues others have complained of. The elastic material feels soft to the touch and I cannot tell the difference between these and my previous pair with a covered waistband. Fitment is good and build quality also seems very good for the money. I won't hesitate to buy these again assuming I get the expected mileage out of them.

Fits better than expected; nice material
Bought these for my husband who stands 6’4” tall and slender and normally wears a 32x34, so I purchased an XL. The waistband has a drawstring which my husband doesn’t even need to use but if he did, there’s plenty of room. The material is lightweight enough but still warm enough if there’s a chill in the air. He hasn’t had a complaint about any discomfort with the material or the waistband or the wide leg; the wide leg is one of the perks to the style which is why I chose this pair. This is definitely one I would order again and in a different color so that he would have a variety for lounging in the spring/fall and possibly even some summer days when the AC may be a little chilly.Overall would definitely recommend and order more!

Champion sweat pants
The name Champion has always been my go to brand. These Large 100% cotton Navy Blue and Black sweat pants came to me longer in the inseam than I remember (34")My wife said that she believes they will shrink over time but the first wash on hot and dried on hot did not shrink the length that much for me to have a comfortable fit just below the ankle, right now the length is under my heel, I'm 5'10" with an inseam of 30"/31" and 250 lbs. We will continue to try and shrink my sweats.PS- Even though they are 100% cotton they do not shrink no matter how hot the water is in your washer or how hot your dryer is. If you have short legs like me (30") inseam do not buy the open bottom pants buy the closed bottom pant or you will be dusting your hard wood floors. Cheaply made waistband.

A Classic Pant With an Uncomfortable 2014 Redesign Flaw
This has been my favorite and most comfortable pant for many years, for lounging around the house and very casual occasions. Unfortunately, Champion has redesigned the pant in 2014, which makes them now uncomfortable for me. As of my purchase in April 2014, Champion now includes a large, 2" elastic waist band on the pants. In previous designs, the waistband has always been covered with cotton that rests against the skin. In the new design, the skin is now directly on the elastic band, with no cotton covering it, which feels like plastic around the waist, cuts in into the skin and is uncomfortable. Don't the designers actually bother to wear these or test them before they mass produce them?Hopefully Champion will correct this uncomfortable flaw in the next redesign of this classic pant.Based on the reviews of others, many have found and agree that the waistband on these 2014 style Champion sweatpants suck (Same waist band on the shorts, see the reviews.). I have subsequently tried a few other brands and found these Russell brand sweats to be the closest in design to the Champion pants and they have a comfortable waist band.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008HTJP8Y/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2WPUTMMJCDTQ7

The old switch-a-roo
I ordered the same pants I bought last year. The fabric wore poorly, but the pants were comfortable and looked well. The pants I received seemed to be made of a non-cotton fabric and instead of the fabric being wrapped around the elastic, the elastic is exposed on the skin side of the waist band. NOT okay. On the other hand, when I told Amazon I wanted to return them, they told me to keep them and refunded my money so I was not out time, gas or return shipping.

Not as good as old style, but will do.
I gave the old style (with covered waist band) more stars than this version. The old style Large fit me in a "relaxed fit" - a little extra room, but not much. This version Large is a bit snug after washing. As long as it doesn't shrink any more, it will be O.K. I'm debating ordering XL just to see the fit difference. This one is snugger in the crotch and butt area.I'm debating the 2" uncovered waistband. I can put up with it, it's not as comfortable as the old covered waistband, but it DOES STAY UP! These pants aren't sliding down at all, where as the old style tended to slide (I often wondered if I needed suspenders with it!).For the price, these pants are a deal. The cotton knit is about like cheap t-shirt material and thickness - fine for summer. How well they will hold up and last remains to be seen. But as I said, for this price, throw them out and buy some more.

Quality has taken a nosedive recently
I’ve been buying these for several years as comfy “around the house” pants. They’ve been great, but when I ordered another pair a few months ago they arrived damaged (drawstring was literally half ripped out of the waistband).I sent them back and got a replacement, which appeared to be fine, though I noticed the waistband elastic was white instead of the usual grey or black.During the first day of wearing them, half of the stitching holding the elastic waistband came out. After day three it has all come out.I will be avoiding these from now on, and I recommend you do the same.

Threads rip
Waistband threads disintegrated after a few days on all pairs. They are comfortable on the inside, no fleece, just cotton, but threads do not last.

Comfy...but
Nice jersey pants. I usually go for nylon or polyester pants for training pants, but these are more comfortable. However, the waist cord is very thin, cheap or bad quality. I already know, it won't last the whole month before it breaks.Improvement to be made there...if the company reads my review!

A good pair of lightweight pants to wear at home
The Good Parts* Lightweight material - it's the same material as T-shirt material* Comfortable* Fit perfectly after washing and shrinking* Has pocketsNot So Great* The thinner material makes them look like pajama pants - I'll probably wear these at home mainly* Legs are a little baggy for my tastes, but as lounge pants, doesn't affect comfortGotchas* These pants WILL shrink in the dryer - before I washed them, I thought I'd have to hem them at least an inch (Size info: I bought an M -- I'm roughly 32w/30l in pant sizing, 5'7" height) , but after washing, they're a perfect length. There's still plenty of room to grow with respect to waistband stretching.

a good product. Already washed twice with no other issues
Was not sure what size to get do to the seller and other reviews being so vague. The inseam is 33 inches on extra large. Why seller is unable or unwilling to provide such details is crazy.Had to cut tag in the rear of pants out. Very hard and was constantly stick me by my tailbone. So cut it out before going to the gym unless u want people to think you have bugs.Otherwise, a good product. Already washed twice with no other issues
