I’m hard pressed to say it’s required but getting this is valuable for tracking the health of your tank for pre and post water Changes or if the water is seeming “off”. Helpful for seeing if the filters are in proper operation long term as well if your tds starts to grow more steadily. Operation is simple, turn on and dip. Can hit the hold button so it keeps the measurement on screen or it will zero out once it’s out of water

This little thing was super powerful and did the job. My daughter did a science project where she had to measure the TDS and various water sources, including rainwater. I was quite surprised by the different readings from different tap sources in our house versus our water purifier, and all the other areas that she collected from around the community. It was a fun project. The device was super easy to use. I wish I had more functionality, but it only does the one job, so if that’s what you’re looking for it’ll be great. If you’re looking for more by a different unit.
