Nightlight Nirvana
I expect many of you reading this review are here because your little ones aren’t fans of the dark. We’ve all tried leaving the hallway light on or using lamps, but let’s face it, they’re all too bright. The solution? This nifty little nightlight. It’s small, lightweight, and comes with several colour options – a nice touch, if you ask me. If you prefer a plain white LED, you can choose from different brightness levels. And if you fancy a bit of colour, there’s one brightness setting that’s gentle enough not to light up the entire street. One of the best features is that it’s rechargeable via a USB cable. This means fewer batteries to worry about and you can place it anywhere in the room without being tied to a plug socket. If you’re on the hunt for a nightlight, these are a brilliant choice. We’ve had ours since March 2023, and they’re still going strong, despite a few tumbles. So, if you want a reliable, versatile nightlight, look no further.

The man with the lamp
Our 6-year old son son is simply a whiner. There are many aspects to (and several causes for) this but in particular during bed times this manifests itself by calling us repeatedly to assist him to go to the bathroom room or to get him a drink. He doesn’t feel comfortable to leave his bed on his own. Besides he is increasingly into reading and in need of a safe bedside lamp (a Led one rather than a traditional that heats up). So with this portable LED lamp that is bright enough for reading we hoped to tackle a couple of his issues. As a gift it was a great success. He likes his new lamp so much that he keeps it with him al the time. And he now makes his nightly bathroom visits by himself. Also for bed time reading the lamp works well. The LED lamp is very easy to operate. My son actually had to explain it to me. A tap in the middle on top switches it on, and subsequent taps cycle it through the various functionalities, flash, dimmed ect. The colours can be chosen from the ring around the top middle button. There is also a physical switch on the bottom to switch it off to saves power. However he has used it now for about a week frequently putting it on at night or in the morning and we haven’t yet had to recharge the lamp, so the initial battery life is quite decent. Charging itself probably takes up to say 30 minutes, but hard to say for sure. Also the lamp is fairly durable, it’s just a fairly sturdy plastic cup with some simple electronics on top. Hence its pretty light-weight, though again, sturdy. The first thing I didn’t like is that only a mini-USB charging cable is included. And no plug to connect the other standard USB-end to the mains. So you’ll either use a spare one, a wall socket USB-plug, or charge your lamp while connecting it to an other electronics device, like a laptop. Though not every one might have one source for this near your (child’s) bedroom. Secondly, the lamp has a small foldable handle on the bottom to carry it around or to hang it from a ceiling, tent pole ect. However when you do that, the very visible logo on the side will be upside-down. It’s perhaps a small aesthetic issue, that doesn’t affect eh functionality, but it just bothers me. Either way, given the additional peace of mind it gives out son and the longer periods of uninterrupted sleep for us, I would say the 12 pound we paid for this, is money well-spent.

Well made, easy to use, touch activated nightlight, with a long life after a full charge.
FiDi Tek Nightlight is a rechargeable nightlight. I usually put mine on charge during the day and a full charge can leave this light on the whole night through so no worries for your kids waking up without a nightlight and panicking of they are afraid of the dark. In fact the most I get out of it is two full nights without needing to charge again which is pretty good as far as lighting goes. It's lightweight, and as a retractable metal loop on the bottom of it so can be hung up on a hook or something if need be. There is a switch at the base to power the nightlight once charged or on charge, and then you need to press the touch button on the top. To select the nightlight colour you must go through three levels of brightness, and the morse code SOS flash before getting to the colours display options. The rainbow ring on the top is an indication of where abouts to press to get the desired colour effect that you want. The reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars for remote control, is based on this system. It does not have a separate remote control it's all on the light itself. I have sensory issues, and my eyes are very sensitive to bright light. For me, this nightlight it a tad on the bright side with the colour option on, because to have the colour option it needs to be on the brightest setting. You can't have the dimmest light and the colour option which was a bit disappointing for me personally, but probably wouldn't be for someone without photophobic eyes. Red is probably the softest colour option on my eyes. The other colours, even the warm orange are too bright for me, however they probably wouldn't be too bright for someone without this sensory problem. The brightness is only applicable to the regular non colourful light, which is a white light not a warm glow light. White light can be pretty harsh on the eyes for someone which photophobic eyes, sensory processing disorder or autism, so that is something to bare in mind if your child has a condition like that. Had this been a warm glow LED that has an option for colour changes in all levels of brightness, I'd have given it 5/5 stars. I've dropped it a couple of times onto a carpeted floor, it still works, not apparent damage to the bulb in any way. First time using it, I noticed at one point it was randomly selecting different colours and gradually fading into them with a fast pace but not in a harsh way like disco lights or anything, more like fading into changing colours. This is the light telling you it needs to be recharged. I didn't realise this as the instructions didn't indicate this, and the box instructions were in an oriental langauge, so I wasn't sure what this meant. If this happens you need to switch the light off at the base and let it charge for a good 10 minutes before switching back on whilst it's charging. It does charge whilst being plugged in and switched on, but the colour changing needs to be reset by switching the switch off at the base for 10 mins and letting it charge for a little while. All in all I'd say it's a decent light. If you've had it on charge switched off during the day, and you have a power cut, it's far safer switching this on instead of trying to light candles in the dark, and it lasts a lot longer than candles would. Looks great on a dark winter evening in the bathroom instead of candles for a relaxing soak in the tub, I like to put it on a the magenta pink one which reminds me of cherry blossom, and use some zen spa music whilst soaking in the bath tub with some essential oils added. It's a nice effect and I never thought artificial light could be relaxing. Put it behind your TV for ambient lighting when watching movies with the light off, it was great on halloween using the white light mode under my chin for telling spooky ghost stories, as you can see the are a number of uses for it so it's quite versatile like that. This nightlight is easy to use, no searching for switches, very sensitive to the touch so great for disabled people who have fine motor skills issues or lack manual dexterity issues in their hands like any form of Arthritis, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, etc. The product is well built, sturdy, can survive a drop onto carpet (I don't have laminate or wooden flooring or tiled floors, so I can't comment on survival after falling on those). Overall it's pretty great as a night light and versatile for use in many situations.
