Bought the machine 6 months ago and have been decorating and renovating so extra dusty environment. Change filter light has come on already so I ordered a new filter. On taking the old one out I was shocked at how black and grey it was - and that’s after I hoovered all the fluff from the outside of it (we have a dog and a cat too). Compared to the new one I wondered if the original was a charcoal /carbon version, as it was so dark - but it was the standard one that came with the machine, originally pure white. Absolutely amazed at how good a job it has done, even if it only lasted 6 months. I was so impressed I bought another machine for upstairs too!

These official filters definitely seem to last longer than the off-brand ones I’ve used in the past. While they’re not the cheapest option out there, they only need replacing twice a year, which helps justify the cost. Got this several years ago for vaping and during covid outbreak for hygiene works well, I have had two hepa systems a Vax before it. The lack of a carbon filter is not a problem as it would accumulate vape in the carbon filter faster which is what happened to the vax carbon filter, odour are reduced a little and I find it really cool that hepa systems were invented in the 1940's to combat nuclear radiation which has the seal of approval for me. Filters the room, if I leave the rooms door open it sets up again on a low setting, whatever it is noticing it has removed in the room where it is current. Being a vaper it's on constantly but I will have to further see how long the filter will last being used this way. Good buy.

I find these filters excellent. The photo above is after appox 18 months. Obviously it should have been changed way sooner. I kept waiting for the replace filter light to appear but it didnt. In the end I just replaced it. As you can see it was quiet bad. This is a smoke and pet free house. The filter was hoover every week or two. The air from the new filter smells lovely. It is like fresh summer air. Once you replace this filter press the middle button for a few seconds and a red filter sysmbol will flash up. This tell the machine that a new filter was installed. This is the reason why some may give the filter one star. I now need to buy a new filter as I like to have a replacement on hand. I was surprised to see that you can also get this filter with charcoal - Philips FY0293/30. I havent bought/used but might be of interest to some people.
