My Favorite for bass drum heads!
One of the best bass drum heads I've used and played with. Realllly nice punchy tone. Easy to tune and will last you a fairly long time. There seems to be an ticker layer around the border of the head which dampens the head enough so that I don't have to shove a bunch of blankets and pillows in the bass drum head to get the sound I like - which is punchy and dry with a loud, strong attack; and that's exactly what I got from this drum head. I've tried many other internally dampened bass drum heads and didn't like any of them nearly as much as the powerstroke 3. The drum heads that allow you to insert muffle rings to your preference were cool, still...it was annoying to put the rings on and take them off and I wasn't able to get just the right amount of dampening. Even less to my liking were the drum heads with the pre-installed dampening ring on the inside, i tended to get a ringing sound like when a balloon is blown up to the max and you tap it, yet my lugs were barely even finger tight...I must admit though, I am not good at tuning by any means and never have been (thank goodness for the drumdial tuner), but that's why these heads are great! I throw them up and tighten it up a little more than finger tight and they are good to go and sound amazing! These reviews are just personal opinions, nevertheless, I would highly highly recommend these heads. I've tried a lot and these are one of the best out there.

An Industry Standard For Good Reason
The Remo Power Stroke 3 bass drum batter is a widely used drum head in the drumming community, which is good testimony in itself. It tunes easy and provides a clean punch with ample low end. It is a durable single ply head with a bit of dampening built in, and provides excellent resonance. Depending on your taste, you can add more muffling inside the bass drum (pillow, etc.), or not. I have an Evans "pillow" in mine, just touching the head. There are a lot of heads to choose from these days, from all of the major manufacturers, including heads with all sorts of dampening devices. It can be hard to choose, and at $35 to $50 or so a pop, it can get expensive to experiment. I've tried Evans and Aquarian, and they have good heads too. But for a good, reliable, bass drum batter head, that will deliver for you, and has enough tuning flexibility to satisfy just about any drummer, you can't go wrong with the PS3. A good many of the major players who use Remo, use the PS3 on their bass drums. NOTE: And as usual, Amazon delivered in good time and with the product well packaged.

very versatile sound
I had been running a clear emperor on my BD and the sound was just flat with out a lot of tone or body. The PS3 retains most of the volume but has really warmed up the sound. The BD is punchy, fat and as most of us do a strategically placed towel or pillow allows for any additional tweaking to dial in sustain for "your" sound. Mic'd up it sounds great, no longer just the leading edge of the note, the slap, but the meat and body are present. The BD integrates well with the rack and floor toms much better now as well. A great choice for a BD head. Heads of this size are expensive and I didn't want to experiment, this gave me what I wanted right away.

Never disappoints!
The Powerstroke 3 is the best bass drum head available. It'll never disappoint you.

Fit my Recording Custom Bass Drum
I was tossed between this head and the Aquarian version .... especially since I had problems fitting remo heads to my toms.... however, this head fit my Recording Custom bass drum and provided the sound I was looking for. I would recommend this head to anyone seeking a bass drum sound more in line with Steve Gadd's bass drum sound. I use it with a Remo ambassador resonant head with a 2 inch wide felt strip applied behind the resonant head.... The combination provides a full bass drum sound and tone without excessive sustain, found with bass drum heads without any muffler.... I don't stuff dampening inside my bass (pillows blankets etc) drum and my resonant head does not have a microphone hole cut into it.

Great head, great sound
Great head, great sound. Very difficult to find. I've put it on a Sonor Jungle an it's great. A bit pricey.

Remo is great, beware of Amazon shipping it.
I've ordered tom and snare heads from Amazon before. I've ordered many drum-related items from Amazon without issue. However, ordering this bass drum head didn't work out well. These boxes aren't factory sealed, so it's on the middle-man (Amazon in this case) to repackage it. In fact, I said give me Amazon packaging, knowing that Remo ships bass drum heads in boxes with 3 flaps. So here's the problem: 1) one of the flaps was ripped open and the box was about 3 inches cracked open at my door; 2) the box looks like it was crushed, even the label that says which size and type head is peeled nearly off from the flattening; 3) the head itself is grimy and all scratched up. If I had wanted used gear, I could have just bought a used one and whatever use it had received would be acceptable. I bought a new one that just wasn't shipped correctly and Remo isn't to blame. I'll have to go to a real music retailer for this now. If this was a desperation situation I would use it, then return it after I finished my recording session, band rehearsal or show tonight...

This head is without doubt the best sounding head you can get for a Gong drum. I have a Pearl Masters and have tried different heads on the Gong but they all sound like I'm hitting an old couch. Not this guy. Crisp, deep and extremely resonant with a very subtle dampening with the patch. I use Moongel on other toms, but not on this guy now. Tuning can take a bit of time, as it should, but wow is all I can say.
