Key-BAK Retract-A-Badge Retractable I.D. Badge Holder with a 36" Retractable Cord and Carabiner Attachment (5 Pack)

I don't know if this clip is "the best" quality, but it's the best quality I've ever had or used. What makes it superior is that it has a metal clip on top that goes around a belt loop rather than a metal clip anchored by plastic on the back-- which is what most cheap ID retractable clips have, which is very easy to break off. I go through those several per year, but this one is durable. It looks, feels and performs like a superior product.

I really like the diamond shape where the pull cord meets the retractable spool. It keeps my badge facing forward much better. They seem to be well made and for the count it's a good deal

I chose this because it had the most features I was looking for, though nothing had them all. After talking with a VP of sales (I believe), I took the chance that it was as they said - the nylon cords worked better than a metal cable for badge holding. I have not found that to be the case, but finding a metal cable retractor that is of any quality in the small reel size with a useable length was impossible. So I went with the best alternative - this one. All others I have looked at were either 18" cables, or used a large "key ring" reel to hold a LOT more weight (and with higher weight is a heavier pull - something I didn't want as well). There was one no-name reel that claimed most of the features (but with a 24" pull instead) but it had consistently horrible reviews, so I avoided it. It has performed as expected - I have already broke one of the nylon cables, but that is why I got a 5 pack. The company warrants it for life, so I figure after I have 3 or 4 damaged, I will send them all back (save on shipping) and have them rebuild them. Not exactly what I was looking for, but apparently it is still the best that is out there for this purpose. So until I find a better product, this will do - and as long as the warranty is honored, it is a second best choice, even if I do have to occasionally pay to ship them all back for warranty work.

I absolutely love the design and durability of these badge ID carabiners. As of this date, I've been using the same one for 5 months without issues. I would not use these to hold anything heavier than a typical ID badge, as the string isn't anything "special". The string used is a typical string, and not reinforced or metal. As a badge holder, it excels in it's job. Previously, I used what was provided by my employer, but the standard ones given would break within a couple months. At this time, the one I've been using has shown no signs that it's going to be breaking anytime soon. The string is holding up extremely well, and it still retracts with the same force and smoothness as day one. If this changes, I will update my review with a timeline of any issues that occurs. Update: Item was purchased in July of 2014. It is now January of 2015, and I'm still using the very first badge ID carabiner. No issues what-so-ever. Another update: I'm still on my first one. It is now March 2016. The lifespan on these things is insane! Yet another update: January 2017 and still running strong on the first one! One more update: October 2019 and still on the first one. It's been almost 5 years now, and I actually gave out the remainders to co-workers / family that need them. So far, no one has commented on them failing. Whoever put these things together deserves a raise!

I started a new job, and I have to wear a badge again. What they gave me was fairly flimsy, so I needed an upgrade. I like this one because I can use the carabiner-style clip to loop through a belt loop rather than marring an expensive dress belt by sliding a metal clip over it (I've made that mistake before). The material of the string seems sufficient, and the winder works smoothly. It's not going to hold a lot of stuff, but it does what it was designed to do. Very pleased.

We use electronic key cards at work and I like to have mine on a retractable string connected to my belt loop. Keeps me from losing it or forgetting it around the office. This product is spot on. Semi-heavy duty, yet not heavy. The clasp for my belt loop is very strong and secure. The fact that it came in a pack of 5 (and still low cost) was a total bonus. I can't see why one would break and why I would need to use another, but it's nice to have them as backup just in-case.

I purchased these to replace a broken badge holder for my daughter. They work wonderfully for their intended purpose. I took one of the additional ones and put a key ring with all of my small loyalty cards on the badge end. Then I clipped it to my purse. Now all of those little key ring tabs are easy to find and no longer being destroyed by my keys! The cord is long enough (just over a yard) to use them when checking out at a store without having to remove the clip from my purse. The string is thin but has held up well to my occasional use and to my daughter's heavy use since we received them. The carabiner clip is strong enough to keep it where you put it. The clip end is about the same size as a 1" split ring key ring in but only 1/2" deep. It weighs approximately 0.8 ounces. UPDATE: We have been using these daily for over three months now and they are still holding up just fine. There is no obvious wear or fraying on the string. I'm very happy with the product! UPDATE: We have had these in use for over a year and they are still like new! UPDATE: It is three and a half months shy of 4 years and they are still working well! If you were wondering how much it would hold, mine will support about 1.6 ounces before failing to retract.

Great product. I use it clipped to my purse for my access/ID badge at work. Nice long string, so I don't have to bend over to use it, and it retracts well. Long enough to swipe in to car park withouth taking my purse off the passenger seat (lol). Best of all, it came in a 5-pack, so I have spares and can just take off the badge without having to move the carabiner. Sturdy, but not heavy. Very pleased with it.
