1 of the most frequent causes of guitar damage is inappropriate humidification. Either too high or too low humidity can reduce a $6,000 dollar high end guitar to a $6 dollar pile of firewood, faster than anything (with the possible exception of leaving it in the locked trunk of your car during 100 degree days - but thats just dumb). The Bovida large instrument humidity set is a nearly perfect solution to this problem. When humidity goes too high the packs will absorb moisture and protect your guitar from swelling and deforming. And when environmental humidity goes too low, the packs will release moisture, preventing the guitar from uncontrolled, uneven shrinking, which results in expensive to repair cracks in the wood. There is 1 caveat: if you live in an area which has a period of extreme sustained low humidity during the year, oe 49% humidity packs are probably not going to work for you completely. You'll be just fine 8 months out of the year. however from November through the end of February in the Northeast at least the margins from a pack at 49% cannot maintain sufficient humidity for most guitars. you'll want to swap in Bovida's 58% humidity packs during that. - they fit in the same holders- and you'll be fine during that time as well

As always Boveda has the best quality products and it was shipped very quickly with everything that was supposed to be in the package. This product is a 90 day fix it and forget it problem solver that allows you to keep optimum humidity for your large wood stringed instruments storage case regardless of the humidity levels outside your instrument case without dealing with trying to remember to re-wet messy sponges and allows you to avoid possible water damage to your instrument. It allows you to easily avoid fret sprout from shrinking necks or tuning issues from warped necks and so many other unpleasant, costly and likely damages to your instruments that assuming you are not a luthier can not fix effectively yourself, or perhaps you are a luthier, but would prefer to not allow the possibility of damage to your beloved instruments reguardless of the fact that you can fix it yourself. Then this product is for you! A elegant solution to an age old problem. I buy a new starter set to put in the case of every new guitar that I buy because it is so dry here pretty much round. Thank you Boveda! You have been my favorite accessory for instruments since I bought my first Boveda starter set with my first guitar! I hope you never stop making these products!

I store some of my guitar collection in their cases during the winter months so I use these in the guitar case along with a bluetooth SensorPush HT.w Smart Temperature & Humidity Sensor and they work perfectly. The push sensor notifies me when the packs are running dry and I just throw a new one in and am good to go for about another 8 months. Highly recommended.

Taylor loves this, keeping it in humidity range. Hummingbird loves it, I keep one in my Tele as well. Perfect!

I bought this for my guitar as the humidity where I air live varies wildly according to the season. It has a hard case. I have a quality humidistat to see what the humidity is. I had high hopes. When I put the packs in the case, the humidity was 72%. I left the case closed for 2 days. Upon opening, the humidity was 71%. I left the case open and put the packs back into the bag as the room humidity dropped to 63%. After it equalized, I put the packs back into the case. A day later, the humidity had not changed. They don't work for me. I have revised my review from 1 to 4 stars. The product did not work for my situation, but I have had excellent customer service. They suggested I use the high humidity packs for my area. I will be giving them a try and review upon receipt and trial. Again, this particular pack does not work for high humidity situations. There is another (B49-high humidity) set that I am told should be used Excellent customer service. The best.

Ive damaged a couple guitars in my day by drying out. Tried several different types with mixed effectiveness. These packs do a nice job. I put two in each guitar case. They last about 3 months. Pretty good.

Edit/update - my original review is below…bumping my rating from 1 star to 3. After posting it I emailed Boveda to let them know how disappointed I was. They responded promptly and on their own dime sent me a hygrometer calibration kit and 4 new 49% RH packs. I used the calibration kit which showed my hygrometer was functioning properly. I swapped out the four packs I put in my case just before Christmas (it’s now mid January) with the new ones they sent me and in two days my case is now reading 44-45% humidity. Much better though still not the advertised 49%. Given the price of the packs and the need to replace them so quickly (or did I get a bad batch?) I’m still not convinced a room humidifier isn’t a better long term solution. But I do appreciate Boveda’s attempts to resolve my issues. Original review: I live in the Mid-Atlantic region - so not an arid climate. My house in the winter when the heat is on has a humidity level of low to mid 30’s aided with a whole house humidifier so I ordered the starter kit plus a fourth packet to boost my guitar into the 40’s. My case is wood-based covered in felt and snaps closed with a snug fit. The case stays closed whether the guitar is in it or out being played. I keep two packs under the headstock and the double pack over the sound hole. After about a month the humidity in the case bounces between 38-40. That’s it. I emailed the vendor and they are sending me a “calibration kit” for my hygrometer. Maybe it’s not perfect but it’s not wrong by 10 percentage points. I would recommend skipping these packs and buying a humidifier for the room where your guitar lives.

Perfect for my violin humidity control, realy works

Works great, I am at 6 months including end of summer, fall and now winter in the Toronto area and I am still keeping my humidity on target. I should mention that I am disciplined in that I close my case as soon as I take the guitar out to keep a steady humidity in my hard shell case. I would give it more stars as it surpassed the predicted duration of effectiveness.

Sind zwar nicht günstig aber top. Habe diverse Git-Koffer damit bestückt und die Luftfeuchte ist über Wochen im grünen Bereich. Besonders bei Akustischen wichtig.
