i have been inputting this directly into my eyes is that bad?

That's what it is for. It is a natural antibiotic that helps dry eyes and bacterial infections such as conjunctivitis. I have been taking it for almost a year for blepharitis symptoms. Cery happy with the results. Burns when you first put them in... but to me it just means it's working. Hope this helps.

What exactly does this do?

I don't know the medical benefits exactly. It stings like hell for about five minutes and your eyes water, so I guess it is making you eyes function again with tears. The honey is good for infections.

Does this help actually heal over time?

I had good luck but have since discontinued use as I started to develop really thick tears so incase it was the honey I stopped. It helps with bacteria and inflamation for sure. It also helps with what was at that time really watery eyes. It was a game changer for me. It does sting at first but u get used to it. I used it for approximately half a year. I preferred the drops to the gel.
