Easy install that can be helped by some extra tools, no worries about strength for pulling
So far I've only pulled Jet Ski's and dirt bikes so I'm nowhere near the weight limits, but I don't intend to pull anything too close to them with an Explorer anyways. It's super solid though and I wouldn't be afraid to load it down with a heavier trailer if I need to someday. Install was actually very straightforward. The bare minimum extra tools I would recommend is a decent torque wrench to get the new bolts torqued to the correct spec. An electric or air impact wrench will make getting the old bolts off super easy, but if you don't do much work otherwise that's an expensive tool to sit around. An exhaust hangar tool will make short work of the hangars, but I managed without one and just a bit of good old elbow grease. Maybe rent one from autozone for a day but I wouldn't buy one unless you plan to mess with your exhaust more than once. Also, of course a second person to help lift the hitch up to the frame is incredibly helpful, I'm sure you can manage it alone if needed too. What I expected to be the most difficult part was fishing the extra bolt and metal plate up into the frame turned out to be incredibly easy with the included "fishing tool" thing that was included, I just left it threaded onto the bolt until we had the other 4 bolts holding the hitch onto the frame incase we knocked it out of place, but it was no issue. Overall installing the hitch itself was super easy and nothing actually stopped us from installing it. Took about an hour total because I work slow and extra careful. I sawone review that claimed the foot kick sensor for the rear hatch no longer worked, and I was very worried about this since my wife quite likes that, this is untrue though (unless you somehow disconnect or break your sensors). You just have to kick to either side of the hitch now. The sensors obviously cannot see through the hitch itself but they're wide enough that they can see off to the sides of it.

Perfect fit for my 13 Explorer
well made and reasonably easy to install. Biggest struggle was removing old brackets.

I'm slow... I get it!
Everybody says "easy to install - 40 mins" -- which I don't disagree with, but the instructions (even as clear as they were) had 2 things confuse me. The muffler hanger bracket (not just the rubber part, but the metal piece bolted to the car) - wasn't clearly described as needing to be removed. Obviously it comes down and gets tossed, those are the same holes the hitch will bolt in to. I have no clue what the "other" bolt you have to fish through hole is for - I installed it correctly, but not clear why -- unless it's meant to be a grounding source for the light kit? My other beef is the torque specs seem off to me - and it would make a heck of a lot more sense to torque the bolt attaching the rubber hanger before you try to install and bolt the hitch under the car. I learned this after following the steps - thinking I could easily get in there. I also found the forward bolt difficult to get to with the mufflers hanging down, I still needed more side to side clearance to get after those bolts. Perhaps if I dropped the 3rd muffler bracket where the 2 pipes join further up the chassis - I would have a lot more play in the whole assembly. I was cautious though, not wanting to break a weld further up by putting too much pressure on the exhaust system. Other than me stepping on myself in a few places, it's easy enough to install - I'm sure future installs will go in 30 mins easily.

Fits perfectly, sturdy, looks great - but install can be frustrating
I love this trailer hitch. I didn't get it for towing, but rather to be able to install a basket on the end of my explorer to store luggage while going on trips. This is relatively cheap, sturdy, and you'll save a bunch of money installing it yourself. Installation isn't quite as simple as the Youtube videos make it seem and you will probably need 2 people... for a few reasons: - The bolts fastening the brackets holding the exhaust up could be pretty rusty and very difficult to break loose and remove. Make sure you have some penetrating spray and a breaker bar. - The rubber bushings that hold up the mufflers could be hard to remove, but do yourself a favor and just buy this tool: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012S9A5U/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - It's difficult to put in place and begin fastening to the vehicle unless you have another person with you. Get a buddy and have some help holding it in place while you begin to get the screws started. - There's this ONE bolt that's different than the others... oh man. The end of the bolt and a small metal plate which the bolt goes through must be placed inside the frame of the vehicle, and then a nut fastens the hitch to that bolt. It wasn't easy for me... but my girlfriend has smaller (and more nimble) fingers and was able to get everything in just the right place. So that last step is frustrating. Maybe you will have better luck. But even with that, highly recommended.

scratches compromised it for corrosion! But the looks strong!
The product looks like used , I ordered a new one and the scratches compromised it for corrosion However welding looks good! Then I’m going to keep it! And besides that looks strong!
