TC Electronic Ampworx Dual Wreck Preamp Pedal

This thing sounds great. Like really great. I have tried other more expensive options on the market and this one nails the dual rec tone for less $$. No hidden features or settings available only through an app. Easy to dial in that massive, detailed sound. I’m using it as essentially a preamp into the fx return of an IR-D to access power amp simulation and the IR loader on the IR-D which basically adds 2 channels to the rig. Wish list: I wish it would allow you to switch between two red channel tones (or green). Also, if you could load your own IRs that would be the best. Maybe these options could be part of a future update? I don’t feel like I’m asking for much.

I gave you a five star review because I’m sure it’s great for someone just wasn’t the right pedal for me. But you know how pedals are very subjective to the person’s taste.

Have it running into a Blackstar Club 40. Sounds pretty good using as a distortion pedal but sounds best a preamp. Sounds so great for a high gain sound.

For the price, you can’t go wrong. Nice and punchy hi gain tone.

DO NOT HESITATE TO BUY THIS PEDAL IF YOU WANT HIGH DISTORTION POWER WITHOUT WEIRD NOISES, THIS IS UNBEATABLE

If you're like me and want that lovely dual rectifier sound but didn't want to spend $5,000 to get it, then this is your guy! I heard a guy compare this device to an actual dual rectifier amp on YT and was soundly impressed. There was hardly any difference at all, and that's no exaggeration. I love the built in boost switch that you can put before or after the preamp. I will say that this device does its best work with a good overdrive in line right before it. The only one thing about it that I'm not crazy about and that is that the device doesn't appear to be a true bypass, i.e. when I hit the button to turn the preamp/boost off, the signal is still affected by the knobs... or at least the volume knob. So, it is not true bypass. That being said, this thing is the closest I've seen that comes to the dual rectifier sound. IMHO it blows the Wampler Triple Wreck away.

BEAST MODE ACTIVATED!!! This thing is truly the best! Right out of the box! All I did was put the clean channel gain at 4 and volume at 6, and it is set! Unity volume with guitar. Clean = Tom Petty MJ. Clean + Pre-Boost = Bryan Adams 69, Hurts So Good, etc. Gain = Everything heavy. Gain + Pre-Boost = SKULL CRUSH!
