Perfect !
I just had to share my thoughts on this device. I have already bought a pair of Xreal Air 2 last week, and now with this device it allows me to use my iPhone almost wirelessly with Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connection. I have experienced this product today in the morning, and when using the beam with my iphone/laptop it works great with YouTube videos, casting the screen. I am also able to use additional devices with my Xreal glasses with a Bluetooth/ wifi connection. The beam also has additional screen/viewing option, such as smooth follow/body anchor/side view. You also are able to adjust the size of your screen. Overall, I'm a fan of Xreal, if you're listening, I highly recommend you buy the Xreal Air 2 Pro. With the support of Xreal Beam, you will experience the happiness of big screen that you never had before!

A Real Disappointment, Glasses are Excellent but Beam is not.
Fortunately for me my XReal Air 2 glasses turned up a couple of days before the Beam, so I had the pleasure of using the XReal Air 2 to watch movies connected to my iPad, and the experience was better than expected. When the beam arrived I had high expectations but sadly I am extremely disappointed. The hardware side of the beam is first class and feels extremely premium, but it's let down by poor software/firmware that is barely fit for purpose and buggy doesn't even begin to explain it. The preinstalled Netflix and Amazon Prime apps work, though the video quality is significantly less than using the same apps on my iPad connected to the same glasses. The star feature of locking the screen position does not even work when using the Netflix or Amazon Prime apps. I am aware that software can be updated and features added or improved, and as this technology is evolving fast I expect this product will improve significantly and by the time you read this the software may have improved and made my issues irrelevant, however I can only judge the product that I have today and it's not worth having in my opinion so I will be returning it to Amazon, but I will be keeping the excellent Air 2 Glasses and just using them connected to my iPad for a stable and high quality experience.

Strange device but works ok
This was a difficult decision as I considered returning it but I'm glad I decided to keep it. The software is terrible and the picture quality was awful. The wireless streaming is quite laggy and plugging my phone into it just reduced the picture quality! (I hear you asking, why did you keep it?). If you learn how to sideload apps the the device starts to get more interesting. After putting a better version of netflix and Amazon into it the image quality was greatly improved. Using this means that you can free up your phone and you get the benefit of being able to anchor the screen and adjust it. It was brilliant to get the Sky Go app running on it as I can watch live TV. It can be sluggish when you adjust the volume but it's fine when it's playing. It gets a bit too warm for my liking and could be a bit noisy - not that noticeable for me. Battery life is less than advertised but you can charge it while using it - this was a thing that annoyed me with my phone before I got it as a phone only has one USB C port. I think it's probably slightly under spec for what it needs to be but hopefully they will resolve the software issues which may help.

Unfortunately not usable
I used the beam together with xreal air 2. Easy to but it’s limited and the overall experience is not satisfactory. I will give a detailed description of my experience. First Impressions The packaging and the unboxing experience feels nice, like a premium product but that’s it. The glasses feel like oversized plastic glasses, light but chunky. If you are used to wear glasses could be ok but if not you suddenly experience where a frame is in front of your eyes with 2 sets of lenses. From a viewing experience means that you cannot enjoy a normal view area with the glasses “off”, and the viewing area is quite small inside the glasses when “on”. Windows pc usb-c cable direct connection worked out of the box for extended or mirrored monitor. With the beam you can connected as a wireless display. The whole screen is difficult to see, corners are quite blurry and borders have some kind of glare. After installing the nebula app the only screen mode was extended mode. Trying to create a virtual screen sometimes would get the screen on the glasses to black with a loading windows circle until the app is closed. The quality with more than one screen is not good and glitchy. The text whenever you move your head gets blurry. Mac Glasses mirror the laptop screen out of the box with usb-c Running the app and connecting the glasses starts changing the resolution of the screen multiple times and tries to update glasses. Update failed multiple times. Nebula app quit unexpectedly multiple times. After a while I managed to get the screens to appear on the glasses. The experience was kind of ok besides the fact that monitors drift around or freeze anchored randomly. If it wasn’t for the quirks it could be used as a really nice on the go setup, but not yet… Ipad pro It works a screen directly with usb-c out of the box as an external monitor Airplay trough beam works as an external monitor Airplay with apple TV-didn’t work Youtube casts only audio Airplay cast works alright with youtube even after locking screen Beam charged from ipad… Iphone 12 mini Airplay screen works as a monitor until screen locked Cast applet tv says its streaming but in glasses only beam interface is showing Android Youtube would only cast audio Nebula App was not supported for the last android version my backup phone supports (12) Beam After going through the initial setup, the only apps available are netflix and amazon prime. I tried to login with my amazon prime account but it wouldn’t sing in and but after 10m waiting it ended up login in. The quality was not good and there was some lag, until at some point I got “prime isn’t responding anymore” error message. I don’t have Netflix, so I can’t review the experience Connecting the glasses to the beam triggers update, and connecting the glasses to the pc or mac with nebula triggers another update and this keeps happening every time you switch between the pc/mac and the beam

Good and bad points, but which is the greater ?
I really wanted to love the Xreal Beam, and it has some nice features if you have the Xreal Air2 or Air2Pro glasses, but it also has some real shortcomings as well. First the good - it’s a well made and very solid feeling unit. Once it’s initially charged (mine came with 0% battery) and then the setup is performed, a WiFi network setup, and latest updates are applied, it offers some good additional features to the basic display mode offered by the Air series of glasses. It takes over the glasses volume control, lets you expand the display to around 10% larger than the native mode the glasses provide, it also lets you pin the display in space, or pin a smaller and less intrusive screen view to the side of your view through the glasses, and it provides a smooth-moving display option so that as you move your head the display smoothly follows your view. It lets you access Netflix or Amazon Prime content form the device (at least it has the apps installed - I was unable to get them to connect or let me login to my accounts so they didn’t work for me). You can also change the display size using the small thumb wheel on the front of the unit. And the not so good - I wasn’t able to use the Netflix or Prime apps because the device simply wouldn’t allow the Auth login to complete. It’s difficult to load additional apps - they can be side loaded, but it’s not obvious how to do it. Real say other apps are coming soon - but they’ve been saying that since the beam was first introduced, so the chances are they might not add more now that the One and One Pro glasses are around. But the biggest bugbear of all - the ‘pinned’ view simply isn’t stable enough - over time it gradually drifts (in my case to the right) so you start with it pinned directly in front of you, and after 5 to 10 minutes you’re looking to the right at a 20 to 30 degree angle just to maintain the same view of the screen. Resetting the movement is easy enough - but it’s only a temporary state - it immediately starts to drift again afterwards each time. I need to hold my hands up at this point, and say I have purchased a pair of the Xreal One Pro glasses, with the Eye camera for 6dof and the stability of the Air series with the beam isn’t a patch on the One series with the X1 chip. I wouldn’t really expect it to be as good - but I wouldn’t expect the display to be stable and not continually drift to the right, which for me is a complete deal-breaker. I have different use cases for the Air and Beam to the One Pro, I was going to use the Air/Beam as a VR headset for drone control, and the One Pro as a supplemental widescreen display for developing code. I will still use the Air2Pro glasses for VR drone control - but I can’t see me keeping the beam and will unfortunately be returning it.

Use only for xreal glasses only.
Had this beam now for a good few weeks now. Game changer when used with the glasses. Sideloaded iptv onto. Works flawlessly.. Watching YouTube or any other streaming service without bothering others is a gift. Especially if in bed,the wife isn’t getting distracted by screens illuminating the room. Win win for everyone.

Useable and good idea
This comes pre-loaded with Netflix and Amazon Prime. It gives you the option to enlarge the viewing screen on the glasses up to 139” Has several viewing modes from smooth follow, body anchor and miny corner view. The beam is a mini computer effectively and connects to the glasses removing the need for an input source. The beam will connect to the internet but can’t input username. WiFi has to be simple, pick the network and enter the password only. Whilst playing content, if you change volume/screen screens or use settings the playback content gets laggy as the processing power is being used. Good purchase if you want larger screen and do not want to rely on your phone as an input. Also allows for charging whilst using.
