This worked great as a fix when my laptop drive quit. Plug and play

I use a old Macbook Pro dvd drive in a enclosure that's been doing the job for well over 13 years now. But it's loud and I saw this as a opportunity to move into something a bit faster. It is thankfully faster than my old 4x player for grabbing files and burning and substantially quieter. The integrated USB C cord that also has a USB A head is great for machines that only have one or the other. And the fact it folds into the body of the machine is a plus. It also came with a micro USB cable for extra power but I did not seem to need it for playback and CD burning. The case is plastic so I don't think this will spend time in my work bag but for home use it does the job.

The elegance of the design left an impression on me. When I am going to a friend's house for a movie night, it is simple for me to throw it in my bag since it is small and lightweight. Because of its metallic finish, it has a high-end appearance that does not seem out of place when placed next to my MacBook Pro. The adaptability of this drive is, in my opinion, one of the finest aspects that it has. The fact that it is compatible with both USB 3.0 and USB-C connectors means that it may be used with almost any computer of your choosing. I have used it without any problems with my MacBook, the Windows laptop that belongs to my girlfriend, and even an old Linux system that I keep around for purposes of experimentation. There is no need to install any drivers or software since the plug-and-play capability takes care of everything for you.

I have used several of these in my Support capacity at work and have no complaints. This is the first I have received for my personal use but I am doing a lot more work on my laptop and sometimes I still need to use a CD or DVD for recovering files or making backups if I don't have access to flash Drives. This is by far the smallest one I have used and it reads everything I toss in from old installation disks for scanners to burned music CDs from 15 year ago. I have not had a chance to burn any disks but from the quality of the device I am pretty sure it will work just fine. I really appreciate the smaller size as my laptop Backpack is getting a bit full

I bought it and it was super easy to connect and to use as a CD burner. Then I went to use it a second time about a week later, and it doesn't even power on. I tried a myriad of cords and plugs and nothing. I also went online and found something that was supposed to help it boot up (deleting files) and I had to do a whole system restore on my whole NEW desktop. Total garbage.

Setup was easy and it worked great at first. I have owned the device about a year and only use it a hand full of times. I went to turn it on today and it was just dead.... so if you want one that will last more than just a few uses, look somewhere else
