It fits around those cold and hot, copper pipes of your heating system to keep them from freezing and loosing too much heat radiation: Think that right.

Seems a bit delicate for me and I haven't been able to apply for my job and have found an alternative solution.

Awful rip off. You can get insulation piping for 85p at screwfix.
