I bought this for my husband. He makes holsters and things like that. He is super picky on what leather he uses and loves this one!

The color is way darker than the pictures, the texture is scarce, and the leather is covered in scratches. I only paid so much for this product because of the cool "look" but it doesn't look like the pictures. It has some of the same pattern but nothing like advertised. I am in disbelief of all of the small scratches, this looks like it spent a few weeks getting kicked around a dirty concrete floor. I feel like I've been scammed, what a waste of time and money. And the packaging and shipping were terrible too, I will never order from European Leather Works again.

I underestimated how thick this leather would be. I first wet formed the basic folds before free handing my own design. I didn't realize it was American bison hide, which makes it funny what I used it for. I purchased an antique Springfield Trapdoor rifle chambered in 45-70 Government. It is a single shot. I also am starting to take part in Six Gun Territory that has re-emerged after the original closed forty one years ago (if this published review is after January 1, 2025). Amazon started giving me these ads for cartridge holders similar to this style. I figured that if I were to imitate these cartridge holders that Amazon suggested, at least be liberal and put in 40 rounds as the Trapdoor was a U.S. military rifle. More rounds means more military might. I can use what I made (along with a clearance concho from Hobby Lobby) for 45-70 Government blanks as well as .410 3 inch shells. I didn't want the leather to be flimsy. I also didn't expect it to be this thick. However, the leather fit my desires for a DIY cartridge holder. I may wet form the sides more inwards, but time will tell.

The leather I received was not the color advertised and had many small scratches. These show up no matter how you treat the leather. I would rate it as unsatisfactory.

It is very strong and good leather, but it was stiffer than I expected.

I bought this leather to make knife sheaths from and it’s amazing. Way different than the veg tanned leather I’ve worked with. Good and stiff but breaks in nicely. Highly recommend

Really nice soft pliable leather perfect for my treeless saddle project Not sure if the top coat is some sort of polyurethane coating or something? Or if they just got it that smooth. Doesn’t matter to me though
