This toy withstands the rigors of my toddler's over-winding. The gears have not broken because she has pulled back too far or the wrong direction. She has played for hours. They all are the right size to fit her hands, she can't choke on them.So far we haven't found anything we don't like about them.

They will be good for a little child to play with

I purchased these for my day care class of one year olds. When you pull the cars back, they race forward, stop, race backwards, stop, then race forward again. It's pretty cool. However, pulling back and letting them go might be a hard thing to master for younger toddlers. The wheels go stiff if you move it in the wrong direction, and eventually get stuck. We only got to use them about 5 times before they started breaking. Probably better for the 3+ crowd.
