easy to set up with apple home, very responsive and quick to trigger automations.

Great for my side gate so I can see if anyone enters my yard while away. Also I have it connected to Apple Home and it plays a siren sound through my HomePods if gate opened while I am home to alert me.

I've got HomePod Minis and Eve Energy devices so I'm using the Eve Door & Window with thread. They come with plenty of spacers to adjust the non-battery powered passive part of the contact sensor. So depending on your door or whatever, most people should find a way to make these work. The battery cover is hard to install and feels like you're forcing it on -- so I'm concerned that battery replacement might be frustrating. So try to be sure there's a way to remove the active sensor from the battery door, which is done by sliding away the sensor body. Those are the only negative things I can say about these devices.Importantly, the both my Window and Door contact sensors already had the new Thread firmware (purchased in July 2021). So I did not need to upgrade their firmware.At first when I added an Eve contact sensor, it didn't trigger automations reliably. So I rebooted all my Eve Energy and HomePod devices. Since then they've been working flawlessly, every time, and near instantly. I have one contact sensor that turns on the hallway lights when the closet doors are opened, and turns them off when closed. I have another sensor on a slider that we only open up to let fresh air in. So I set up an automation to put our Ecobee into away mode to keep the AC or heat from turning on when we have the windows open. They've been extremely fast, triggering within a second of opening or closing. By using the Eve app I can see that so far these contact sensor Thread end-points are relaying their activity to an Eve Energy thread router that is about 30-40 feet away with several walls. That's impressive range and I'm surprised they're not routing through closer HomePod Minis or NanoLeaf Essentials bulbs. I plan on buying more of these devices soon as I can think of more practical, life improving things to do with them :-)

False advertising. In product description it says requires hub of your choice, e.g. AppleTV. False!! You must have an additional hub. This hub situation is total bs. I don’t wanna have to buy another piece of hardware. That’s the point. Buy the sensor and it connects to your existing AppleTV. Some sensors do that. Not this one. Do not buy unless you have the special hub. AppleTV alone will not do it.

I received two packages, both had been tampered with/opened; One of the sensor doesn't connect.Updating: factory reset of the "broken" sensor, using the reset pinhole, worked. I suspect these might be refurbished? but they both work now.

I had these set up first, through homekit. Due to some issues with homekit and my current set up, I determined to use Alexa devices as the hub (and connect it to homekit as well). Sensors work great, I just wish they would come up with a better design for replacing the battery. In some places, I had to remove the whole sensor, clean where it was, clean the bottom of the sensor, and then use my own tape in order to reattach it. This was due to me having to reset the devices to switch to alexa as the primary hub.

This design is limited by the sliding cover that needs to be removed to replace the 1/2 battery that powers it. That sliding cover only moves in one direction and there might not be room for it to move in your recessed window installation. I purchased these to protect basement windows and I will try them with the powered component mounted on the window itself, but mounting the magnet portion might then be a problem.I do like the quality of the brand, so I am hoping I figure out a serviceable install.
