Yamaha CK Series 61-Key Stage Keyboard with Built-In Speakers, Black (CK61)

Me: Aspiring keyboard player looking for a good organ platform (with Leslie speaker simulation) with other cool stuff.

This keyboard feels great for a synthesizer type keyboard. It is not a full fleged synth, but has enough of the effects to get you there. What it does better than most synthesizer is the classic instruments. So combing the two it makes this keyboard a great choice no matter what you do. Home, band, or solo live play. It also hooked up to a DAW easially for home studio. My only negative is the missing ability to buy an optional sheet music holder for when I compose.

Being a keyboard player in diverent band combos, this product i absolutely amazing. The navigation is simple and easy to use. Thank you again Amazon for delivering on your reputation as a quick and easy to use service , with great sources of various products. I highly recommend you!

I just got it and have played for about an hour without cracking the book. The presets for live can be pre-selected which is cool. The keybed feels almost toylike but it is touch responsive. Default output sound is thin but there’s adjustable tone. The old style knobs are very nice. There’s a learning curve but you can learn enough in minutes to get going. I’m replacing a 1980s Korg 01/W but the CK is a toy by comparison. Nevertheless, this new keyboard is going to the recording studio for an album the band is doing. I think it’ll be fine. UPDATE: I have used this in the band and at home and after a year or so I upgraded the review to 5.

Terrific synth. I’m a pro pianist and I’m very happy with it after doing research online first. Plus a friend has one. Bought used-like new and it absolutely was like new.

Update: i returned this and am trying the yc61. As they say buy once, cry once. For $900 I couldn’t live with the flimsy ck keybed. I wish they made it 5 lbs heavier and made this more like a 61 weighted keyboard. I have a $200 casiotone I’ve been playing for over a year. Maybe it’s just b/c I’m more used to it and I think that feels better than this. The other issue is the Yamaha gig bag price. It retails for $200 and isn’t any better than the $35 generic bags. The ck is slim and I was afraid the generic bag wouldn’t fit as well.

I have both versions of this keyboard. 88 key for home and this 61 key version for travel. The only drawback os the sound from the speakers, are weak and underwhelming. I use headphones or plugged though a sound system.

Outstanding musical instrument- though very complex. Recommendation to Yamaha - Should supply a video tutorial to assist in learning all the functions
