Our daughter age 5 loved doing this with us - was fun way to teach her about how the chemicals grow crystals.

Great fun , But they don't last. I might try spraying them with hair spray or varnish next time.

The picture on the box is misleading. It looks like you’ll get a tree that grows into a crystal that you can keep but it’s not. The markers were dried out. The pink and orange don’t show up on the tree. The trees on the box use other colors like red which isn’t received. The trees grew some white “crystal” fluff. It keeps falling off the tree so we sadly won’t be able to keep them. I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing. This isn’t worth the £25 I spent.

These are great for those rainy days. They grew quicker than I thought they would. Only problem when the crystal has formed as soon as you try to move the trees the crystal will fall off so they are ruined just as quick as you make it (hence the 4 stars). Still a fun activity for kids.

It produces a good result as advertised and grows quickly which is great for impatient kiddies. It starts growing within 30 minutes and is almost fully grown after a few hours. The downside is the growth is extremely fragile and a lot of the growth falls off on its own without touching it (photo). If you touch the trees or knock them even slightly, a lot of the “cauliflower” growth falls off so not great for kids who expect to be able to handle and examine them often they’re grown. Update: The vendor reached out to us and gave a full refund because we were disappointed with this product which pleasantly surprised us. We have bought several other National Geographic kits in the past and have been very pleased with them. This was the only one that was a little disappointing.
