Great set of knives.

About 30 years ago I had purchased a a steel J.A. Henckels knife set before micro-serrated edges that never requires sharpening were created. I had to sharpen those knives and they served my purposes. (I was quite happy with them). Sadly they were lost during a move. Flash forward to 2017 and my new set of J.A. Henckels International SilverCap 14 piece knife block set. While these certainly are not the top of J.A. Henckels line of products I do have to they are well made. I love the fact Henckels has created an ever sharp blade that is dishwasher safe. (In the past my previous set could never be put in a dishwasher and was always hand washed and dried.) I am getting used to the serrated edge to one side of the blade, having to angle inward slightly when cutting through unpeeled onions, but once I figured out that trick I had no problem. As I practice using these new knives I am delighted to find I can slice carrots paper thin if I want to. (something that my old knife set never achieved) I do wish this set had a boning knife and perhaps one more utility knife (perhaps in lieu of so many steak knives) but overall this set is a great value and the knives are going to be a workhorse in my kitchen. I am a serious cook who requires good cutlery, good cookware, and good small kitchen appliances. These knife will easily stand up to the task.

I got this product during Amazon prime days 2022. So far I LOVE IT! The knives are SHARP and easy to handle. The silver and black looks great on my counter and so far my family is please with the new purchase. Invest in a good set of knives!

I like the looks of this knife set and block. I had ordered two other brands prior to ordering this set. I was truly disappointed in the other sets and returned them immediately. I have had good results from this set. It takes a little getting used to the serrated edges, but I like them so far.

Sharp

I have had Henkel knives for years so when I was in the market for a new set, I chose that brand. However the knife set I purchase and received was disappointing to say the least. These are not everyday knives to cook with or prep food with. All of the knives have a "saw" type blade which makes cutting meats, vegetables impossible, it shreds the food and is not how a chefs knife or any knife other than steak or bread knife should be. These knives are not usable and I will be returning

***Update*** Unable to sharpen knives. So they are running dull now. Will need to buy new knives soon. Just received these knives yesterday, so I haven't used them yet. They feel great and sturdy in my hands. I look forward to using them. The block is very good. The slots go all the way through the block creating a drain hole, so it’s ok to put knives in if they’re still a bit damp, this is something I was told to ensure a knife block has before you by it

We just received these yesterday and I pulled them immediately out of the packaging to try them out due to the mixed reviews. I was worried they wouldn't hold up to my expectations. These knives are great! They are VERY sharp. They do have a serrated edge on one side and so may not be perfect for anyone looking to just mince with them. I would have a separate knife for that because for most everyday use with these, they are great! Great value!

These set of knives also look lovely on the kitchen bench. Would definitely buy again.

Its a quality knife but I regret that they are serated that makes it challenging to slice soft and delicate veggies but its good witg meag. Its so sharp I hurt myself using it.
