Assembled Version - Both plain headers and terminal block are assembled. We recommend an unassembled version with stacking headers, NS-SHD-NEOPIXEL if you want to wire up some other outputs or sensors.
This Arduino shield is equipped with 40 WS2812B smart LEDs arranged in an 5x8 matrix with on one pin ( Digital #9 or DI) needed to control them all pixels.
This shield is by default powered from the 5V onboard Arduino supply. So it is easy to start as long as you are not lighting up all the LEDs full power. We recommend that you use an external power supply for stable working. There is a polarity protection FET on the external power input in case you wire the power backwards.
You can supply an external 5V DC power at terminal block in case you need more power than what the Arduino provides.
The LEDs are arranged in a ZigZag layout and chainable by connecting the output of one matrix into the input of another. You can chain as many of these panels together as you'd like when tiled separately from the Arduino. For the second panel, connect the DI connection to the first panels DO, connect the ground pins together and power with 5VDC.
You can cut a trace (bottom side 'SIG') and use nearly any other pin if you need some customization.
Please use a high speed level converter (74AHCT245, etc.) when an external signal level is 3.3V from Naze32/Teensy/STM32.
