Better than Sea-Monkeys!
This is currently the cheapest Aqua Dragons kit with a tank, and gives clearer viewing than most other brine shrimp tanks. I removed the plastic wrap around it as I'm using an aquarium airstone in the tank and found that "salt creep" was getting underneath the wrap. It's easy to remove and improves visibility too. The instructions that come with them usually work well, and are more effective and educational than Sea-Monkey kit instructions. The egg packet also contains a far larger number of viable eggs than Sea-Monkey kits. As with rearing any live animal, I would recommend doing a little research before starting however - watching a couple of short YouTube videos on raising brine shrimp will give you a good head start . They need a bright and warm spot, so you can use a heat mat/mini aquarium heater if your space is too cold, and you can use a small grow light if the space is too dark. An air pump is not needed, but improves conditions and saves having to manually "aerate" (really just mix the water and put food particles in the water for feeding). I'm kinda weirdly obsessed with these types of brine shrimp kits and have tried many different brands and kits over the years - Aqua Dragons are currently the best brand IMO and this kit is the value for money compared to the others at the moment too :).

Fell down, cracked my plastic aquarium before any Aqua Dragons had ever been added... .
I luckily had put no creatures in there, yet... . But when my Aqua Dragons aquarium fell about 60cm onto a stone floor, it broke down. Also, water can easily run out of it with a lid like that. The colour of the aquarium is lovely. I would still recommend getting a small glass tank or a plastic tank designed as a small animal carrier. This aquarium can get knocked over too easy, I am afraid. When I added a thermometer to my original aquarium, it also tore away the layout with the nice Aqua Dragons design that is not printed onto the aquarium itself but more for marketing reasons and part of the packaging. What's more, it does not reveal what is inside the eggs sachet and the nutrition sachet as of detailed nutritional ingredients used. I would like to give 3.5 stars, also because the set is containing everything needed but a decent aquarium... . Rounding up to 4 stars because I love watching sea creatures and the product is better advertised than Sea Monkeys. Before you buy them, these are LIVING animals. If you go on holidays, get a pet sitter. Don't discriminate against those creatures simply because they are made of less cells than a human being, and certainly don't let them drown in a toilet bowl alive. Thank you! These animals are not a toy but make a nice science project that may keep you busy for many, many months, if you keep on feeding them and raise new generations, you can make this a hobby.

10 year old loves his little dragons
My 10 year old son loves them. Very easy to set up, use bottled water only not tap water! We added the eggs on 6/12/25 and they hatched on 8/12/25 they are now becoming more visible as of 12/12/25 as you can see in the video, very active little things, we are excited to watch them grow. We oxygenate the tank every day and feed them a tiny amount every 2-3 days as instructed. We kept them in the airing cupboard the first 3 days to hatch as its nice and warm. If you follow the instructions you should have no issues like us.

The difference between Sea Monkeys and Aqua Dragons
I bought a Sea Monkeys 'Ocean Zoo' as well as a Aqua Dragons 'Underwater World' as Christmas presents for my daughters - kind of a 'same but different' sort of deal to prevent arguments, assuming that they were pretty much identical besides a few aesthetic differences. This assumption was incorrect, as there are some very big differences between the two products. Both tanks were set up in exactly the same environment - literally side by side - and using the same bottled spring water. The instructions included in each set were followed to the letter. The setup of the Aqua Dragons 'Underwater World' was quick and easy - you add just one sachet, containing the salts (and other water conditioners) and eggs combined, into the water, and that's it. You're done. In a few days, your Aqua Dragons hatch. That said, caring for your Aqua Dragons once they've hatched is more laborious than those of the Sea Monkeys 'Ocean Zoo' set - oxygenating the water daily with a pipette and feeding every two days. In addition, the quality of the Aqua Dragons 'Underwater World' is somewhat lacking - the food provided wasn't miscible, and so floated on the surface of the water, which is probably why the Aqua Dragons all died within a few weeks. A quick email to the address provided in the set was all it took to obtain free replacement sachets of food and eggs (albeit with a large dose of condescension from the representative), and we already have a second healthy batch on the go, with food that seems to be perfectly miscible with water. On the other hand, the Sea Monkeys 'Ocean Zoo' required a little more in the way of setup - the salts and water conditioners come in a separate sachet and needs to be added a full 24 hours before the sachet containing the eggs, and then it takes a lot longer than the Aqua Dragons to hatch - we're talking potentially weeks rather than days here. Once they've hatched though, care is minimal and rather easy - you don't have to oxygenate the water because the tank is better designed, and you only need to feed them once a week. In addition, Sea Monkeys would seem to be hardier than Aqua Dragons, as our first batch are healthy and large and still going strong, and everything just seems to be more 'grown up' and of better quality - even the magnifying lenses in the side of the tank work. Overall, it's kind of a 'tortoise and the hare' kind of thing, and I'd recommend Sea Monkeys over Aqua Dragons based on the quality, reliability, and ease of caring for them after the initial setup; however, I appreciate that some children lose interest in things quickly, so Aqua Dragons might be the better choice for children that expect quick results and constantly feel the need to do something - just be sure to manage expectations because Aqua Dragons seem to be more prone to premature death than Sea Monkeys are.
