My daughter is 7 years old and her eyes lit up when she saw this. It is a thorough walk-through of several art genres, all of which she has started attempting. Be prepared to provision the little one with the necessary material - this book will guide you on what is needed along with technique, and it's written in a style that's both helpful and informative. Highly recommended.

Very good step by step guidance The perfect book to assist the budding artist!

I have bought this book as a birthday gift for my 8yr old nephew, but having flicked through it and read the blurb on the back I feel it is a book for adults to use to guide, teach, instruct children, not necessarily a book a child will use independently. However it looks very useful and there are some fab ideas in there and it appears well constructed and thought out ( based upon my flick through it) I bought it based on the great reviews here, but don't expect it to be the sort of book you can toss to your child to keep them quiet and busy for a few hrs while you get on with other things, I would suggest it needs your attention too. I am glad I bought it, but I am worried my nephew will find it a little inaccessible due to the adult style of writing and instructions. On the plus side it means I can go over to see him and we can work through it together. A great way to introduce children to different ways of making art and having fun while doing it.

Told I was not very good at art at school. Doing it again as an adult. The truth is I was a slow starter I am an artist!

I bought this as part of home schooling Art and Design. I felt it was a good selection of Art projects for a variety of school ages. Each project was produced by a professional artist, which I liked, as it raises the education standards.

Good value

Lots of lovely ideas broken down into 'labs' as the author refers to. Used several of the themes for an Art workshop I ran this August in my village. Loved the way that ideas are linked with various Artists that work in the particular style. Great for follow on work.

This is a fabulous book. Said to be for kids, but actually wonderfully full of ideas for artists of all ages. Even experienced artists may find a new idea or two. I've found many. And all clearly explained in step by step processes.

This is a really excellent book. I've been using it with my children this summer to bring more art into our lives. They range from age 4-13, and everyone participates and enjoys it. This is not a book with detailed instructions for each medium, but gives nice projects to introduce kids to a variety of mediums with some suggestions on how to accomplish it. Because I have some art background I will sometimes give more detailed suggestions for method. I actually like that it isn't too detailed, for it allows for a freedom of expression without being bogged down by form. I have been blown away with my kids' finished pieces. I am using this book as an outline for my own art class, and we haven't actually used any other material yet. We've completed four projects and I think we will use most of the lessons in the book. (I'm less interested in things like the printing lessons, but that has to do with my own interest and ability to set it up for four kids at my kitchen table) this book likely works best when the process is explained for younger children. My 11 and 13 year Olds could follow it on their own, but my 7 year old may hesitate and benefits from a real life, real time example.

Fun activities for kids... Without much hassles of extravagant materials...beautiful results in the end...

I am a homeschool parent and I love doing art with the kids, but usually my projects are haphazard and too much time in between. This book has been an awesome way to learn some new techniques and try projects we've never done before. We are just going through chapter by chapter, which helps me to stay organized! My boys, 10 and 7, are really enjoying it a lot. I highly recommend it!
