which I especially appreciated during the hot weather as they could come inside to cool down No more spraying and my cats aren't
I have four cats and one mangy stray that kept coming in the house and spraying, up the curtains, sofas etc. was sick to death of washing and cleaning up after it so bought this and don't regret it. Positives Only my cats can get in and out, which I especially appreciated during the hot weather as they could come inside to cool down No more spraying and my cats aren't be stressed by interlopers Easy to fit (I'm a 50 year old woman and managed to do it) Price - not unrealistic. This is a very sturdy cat flap. I usually have to replace my cat flap three times a year as the doors are so flimsy so this equates to three ordinary flaps The secure locking system means no more draughts in the house Batteries - with four cats constantly going in and out the flap and I surprised the batteries have lasted so long. Have only just changed them. The secret is do not take them all out at once, you will loose the programming Negatives None that I can think off except one of my cats is on the tubby side and does not like trying to squeeze through It. In times of desperation he will use it but prefers me to be doorman I don't find the clicking noise annoying. It lets me know one of them is in. Only disadvantage is that one cat now carts everything into the house, worms, twigs, leaves and acorns Buy one you won't regret it.

Fantastic product for a multi-cat household
This is a fantastic product. It doesn't just stop any non-authorised cats coming in, the dual scan function allows you to control which ones can go out too - very useful in a multi-cat household. We've been using it for 3 months to allow our adult cat free access in and out of the house without allowing our new kittens to follow him! The unit is quick and simple to install, and fitted the hole made for the old cat flap. The programming options are extensive, and easy to operate with the clearly-worded manual. It has several modes, including vet mode and safety mode. I've set up the safety mode option for the 3 new kittens so that if they do accidentally get out, they can all get back in again. You can programme in up to 12 cats. My partner tells me this is not a challenge and that I should be happy with 4... This cat flap is battery powered, unlike other makes I've used before, so you have no issues with trailing cables, or if there is a power cut. The manufacturers suggest testing the battery regularly, and changing it yearly - I've set a reminder for myself to change the batteries every 6 months to avoid any problems. I've previously used PetPorte, which was good, but I ended up replacing twice because of non-specific faults which the (usually very helpful) customer service team couldn't resolve. At around £100 a time, it was becoming expensive. I'm glad to have found this Sureflap cat flap as an alternative, and am likely to be purchasing a second one for the other door in the not too distant future.

Simplicity itself and only a whisker away from purfection (I'll get my coat)
We purchased this catflap to protect our not terribly brave pussycat from the advances of the local bullies and it has so far worked admirably in this role. The design and build quality of the main unit is fantastic and a huge step up from our previous Staywell model. I don't often give much thought to the appearance of such things but it does look smart rugged and well constructed. It operates from 'AA' batteries and has so far worked for about 6 months on the original set. Setup - I struggled a little to install this as our catflap is through an extremely thick wall which necessitated the use of the glass/wall add on pack (about £10), unlike the actual unit this is a flimsy piece of plastic and doesn't hold very tight. It works but I'm not impressed. Best to consider your options if this is for a masonry wall or glass door. Fitting for a regular door looks pretty easy. Adding your cat to the system is incredibly easy, our little fleabag was microchipped by the RSPCA and we simply needed to press the button on the Cat Flap and then coax him towards it. Job done, from then on it recognises him when he gets close and the catch is released. What I liked - The door is strong and has prevented enemy felines from entering despite a fair amount of head bashing. The setup process is clean and simple. What I didn't like - There isn't a way to allow all cats to exit. We had a cat sneak in at one point and it was then unable to get out and went berserk! Not fun. Also, the batteries fly out of the compartment when fitting them. Finally my first unit was faulty, but that's just anecdotal, the replacement has worked flawlessly.

Good, keeps visitors out.
If you have visitor neighbour cats and want to keep them out, this is the model you want. The cheaper model only has a microchip latch on the inside, a smart cat will simply paw the flap outwards. This model has a latch on the outside as well as the inside, thus stops them pawing it open. My cat manages to use it fine, and he’s not the smartest cat going. Looks sturdy, not too worried about the neighbours cat physically braking it. Minor criticism, there is a bit of an air gap around the top of the flap, might let a draft in winter.

We have one big old senior cat (19lbs) who comes and goes as he pleases - he never leaves our yard. We also have a younger, far more adventurous cat that is not allowed out under any circumstances - he will jump the fence in a heartbeat and disappear for two days. So this was a perfect solution for us - with one big question mark. Could our senior cat even fit through the hole? It's a very small opening, and there's only one size to this. I tested him before I bought this door - I cut a flap in a cardboard box and put some treats in it, and he squeezed through just fine. (Ironically, the treats are how he got to be so fat ...) This door was bought to replace a manually operated door, which we used before we got our younger cat. It fit in the same opening, which had been cut into the aluminum panel at the bottom of a storm door. Despite the fact that the instructions cautioned against interference if mounted in metal, it was worth a shot because the hole had already been cut. Mounted like this, the performance was inconsistent - sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. I called the company to see if there might be some other cause i could look into - they listened carefully and were very certain that this was the problem. They recommended the circular mounting bracket that will offset the sensors from the metal by an inch or two, which they say is enough. Instead, I found a nice piece of plexiglass in the garage, left over from another project, that I repurposed as a window to replace the aluminum. The installation is very straightforward - but it does require a little bit of skill. Basically, it's "trace the hole, cut the hole, push one end through and stick the other side on with two screws and you're done!", but the trick is in cutting the hole. Initially (with the original door) I just traced the hole and cut it out with a pair of tin snips. The plexiglass was a little trickier. Going through a wall or an exterior door would require some thought for sure. I measured the size and cut the plexiglass on a tablesaw, but I put masking tape on both sides to prevent chipping. Same with the cutout - I traced out the rough size of the opening using the door, then used masking tape on both sides. I made a more accurate line with a marker, drilled a couple of pilot holes and cut the opening out with a jigsaw and a fine-tooth blade. Electronically, it works great. After a little encouragement, our old-timer just sticks his nose up against the little window and we can hear the "click" that unlocks it. I think he has learned to listen for the click himself. We'll see if the other cat figures this out and tries to follow close behind - I wouldn't put it past him. There's a locking mechanism that offers all possibilities. It can be locked both ways, or open one way and locked the other (right now we have some rodents in the yard; we have it set to let him out but not in; we want to check first to see if he's bringing in a mouse or rat). It can also be set to let him in but not back out again - which is great for keeping him in at night. It can also be unlocked both ways for the cat with the right chip, or unlocked and completely overridden to let anyone in or out. Once again, the big downside is the size; it's really tight for our cat. The company assures me that they are "in production" for a larger door, which I will probably buy once it's available.

Bought this and must have got the wrong model. Despite this being the same price it doesn’t connect to the sureflap connect. Had to contact customer service and give them the serial number. Good quality, although it’s not air tight and you get a draft. Also the door is not so heavy, if a cat comes in and it’s windy the door can stay open. Came home one day and a vacuum had been created due to it being installed in a wall with the extenders and I had so many leafs in the house and all the heating had gone, overall it’s ok.

Had this door for over a year and it works great for multiple cats. Some of the cats figured out how to use the doors right away. Others were a little scared of the clicking noise but they figured it out after a a few months. Now they all use the door all the time. They also use it for a window which is a little draining on the batterys they last a month or two. Pretty easy to to install in a wood door.
