Kensington MacBook and Surface Laptop Locking Station with Combo Lock Cable (K64454WW), Combination Lock

It was hard to find something like this but at the end I’m very happy with this finding. It’s a very good and sturdy lock for my MacBook. I had used it with my MacBook 12 and with a MacBook Air 15 with just a little modification. It’s very easy to use following the instructions.

This lock works great for my Surface Studio and MacBook Pro. Neither have a port for a security lock. The unit is adjustable in width and is straight forward to setup the locking base. The problem was setting up the locking foot for the security pin. The pictures were not clear that you had to extend the locking foot quite a ways to get it in the security slot. Then you have to tighten the locking foot up to keep it in place. Great idea, just not clear on how far you have to extend the locking foot. Once I got that setup it works great. Because my computers are different widths, I elected to order a second one so each computer has a security lock already setup to the correct width. When I travel, I often take both computers, so having two security locks makes sense. Because of the way the power cable for the Surface Studio lays, I had to open the locking mechanism one extra slot so the power cable would not be pinched.

I know someone who had her computer stolen right in front of her while she was sitting in a coffee shop (they just grabbed the computers and bolted out the doors). While this is an unusual event and more likely to not happen, I'd rather not take my chances. I went with this lock, even though it was more pricey and heavy, mainly because I don't need to super-glue anything else on my computer. I have a Lenovo 15.6 laptop, and the lock fits. So far it's worked really well when I am out somewhere working. It's sturdy, easy to set up, and lets me run to the restroom without packing everything up and taking it with me. I am giving it 4 stars rather than five mainly because I don't know why it has to be so pricey. I get that it's a name brand item, and that it's made of metal. It's an investment I'm willing to take, but it still costs much more than I'd prefer to spend on a lock. If someone could explain to me the reasons why Kensington chose this price point for this lock, and if that explanation sounds reasonable, I'd consider changing it to 5 stars.

I bought it for my MB Air M1. Very easy to use, even though it will limit the opening angle of your laptop. An excellent alternative if your computer does not have the slot to use a regular chain.

Apple didn't give consumers many choices with their latest MacBook Pros. I don't see why they couldn't have just included a slot for a lock. Kensington tried to create a solution. But this lock is heavy. It probably weighs at least two pounds, so I don't think I'd regularly want to carry that around along with a cable lock. It was also hard to set up. It only came with a series of schematic diagrams that weren't very clear. I would have needed to find an online tutorial if I hadn't lost patience and decided not to complete the setup. Overall, I think this might be fine for someone who can keep their lock in an office, classroom, or dorm room. But it's not a good lock for people who want to carry it and use it in a lot of different places.

I have been wanting to lock my MacBook for a long time but couldn't because it does not have a Kensington slot until I found this product. The built quality is really good and it gets it job done. The only thing I do not like is the combination lock came with it. To use the included combination lock, you will have to installed/screw a small provided hardware onto the Kensington slot. After that, you can use the combination lock to lock onto that hardware. If you want to use a different locking cable, say a keyed lock, you will have to remove that hardware to expose the Kensington slot.

Directions a bit confusing but I figured it out. Can’t close screen when locked🙁 but I knew that when I bought it. Deters theft. Expensive but not many options for Mac users. Bulky for transporting to library but really only weighs 3 pounds. I can see my college kid using in dorm room to secure laptop but will see if she goes for hassle of using it at library. Might be easier to throw laptop in book bag and take it with her to bathroom if needed.

Does what it’s supposed to but your cannot close the Mac book - not even a smidge. If you accidentally knock the screen slightly closed you will end w a cracked screen. Just a bump - not w intent to close - and the front locks will crack the screen…. Use gingerly/carefully/delicately

Dejo de funcionar la combinación a los 2 meses. Imposible resetear aunque se realizó todo lo que marca el manual. Tuvo que abrir un cerrajero y quedó inservible. No lo recomiendo.

When purchasing my new laptop for post-secondary classes, I noticed many laptops no longer come with the Kensington Lock and I wanted to ensure I could protect my laptop against theft. I looked at various different lock based security products and then came across the Kensington Laptop Locking Station 2.0 . I found it great to be able to add this behind most laptops upto 15.6 inches(most 16 inch models). Though I noticed upon setup, that it was a bit difficult to get started with changing the screws and resetting the lock to ensure it would work. Though once setup, it works great to protect my laptop against theft.

Funciona muy bien, lo uso en oficina y me ha funcionado muy bien con una MacBook Pro No hay que pegar o agregar nada a la laptop lo que lo hace muy conveniente. Muy recomendado.
