Works like I hoped it would. I’m using it for race car tires. I checked several tires with it and compared the readings to my tire chart. Perfect match and very consistent over multiple readings. Nice carry case too.

I purchased this tool out of an interest in verifying the durometer rating printed on polyurethane and rubber products, because of vastly different experiences with urethane formulas from different companies claiming to have the same durometer rating. Well, as it turns out, the manufacturers in question indeed misrepresent their products actual durometer rating, and now I test everything for fun.

I ordered this Durometer to measure the hardness of the foam and rubber in the soles of various running shoes I have bought. I want to understand how the hardness of the outsole affects the wear and durability of the shoes along with the hardness of the midsole foam and the effect it has on how plush or harsh they may feel on my feet. I’ve had this one for almost 8 months. It came in a nice red plastic clamshell case and with an extra CR2032 battery.
