These work great in Synology NAS's. I don't recommend them for any other purpose. I bought these when Amazon was selling them for $480. Now Amazon is selling them for $650. Not sure why they decided to increase the price 35%.

Only branded drives like these are compatible with the new, large, rack-mounted Synology NAS. They make a low frequency rumbling sound, not bad really. Performance seems good. Docs suggest that the drive's firmware will update through the NAS. You can get more storage for less by using a competing brand in the smaller NAS devices. They run very cool, typically 26-29c vs. 33-38 for WD and Seagate drives in other NAS devices in the same room.
