I was installing a complete new wire harness on an old car and could not find my simple test light. I did not start the job until this arrived. Meters and continuity testers are necessary tools but people often over look how much time a simple test light can save you. The lamp indicating the wire or contact is live is right in your hand so you don't need to look over at the meter or try to hear the continuity tester beeping. Quick, easy to use, you can use it while lying on your back under a car dash or aircraft panel. I put a sleeve of heat shrink tubing over most of the probe length to avoid shorting out to any other circuits or grounds. If you need to check inside a lamp socket or a power outlet the heat shrink tubing works great so you are not playing that old children's 'Operation' game that beeps when you short out the tweezers. If you don't shrink the tubing you can slide it off if you want it out of the way. I've never needed to. Some people will use the sharp probe to poke through insulation to check the wire. I seldom do this and don't like the idea of having a hole in the wire's jacket insulation and disturbing the conductors. If I do poke a hole in the jacket I put a dab of RTV on the hole when I'm done. Meters are nice but I won't do any electrical work on vehicles without both a meter and a test light. This is a good one and reasonably priced.

I got this as a back-up Tester when I had a bulb failure on my normal tester (and back-up tester should I need one on the road). For the price, it functions perfectly. If you are a part-time, home repair type, this should serve you well. I prefer heavier duty testers, but since I had a bulb failure, this arrived the next day and saved my bacon since the replacement bulb took over a week to arrive. Money well spent. Additional input, half the price of the exact replacement tester for the one with the bulb failure that had a 10 day delivery date. Like I stated, it saved me. I do not recommend this for daily professional use. I do recommend it for the kind of usage it was designed for and will get from me...Part-Time, in the road tool g0 bag selection, also in case of emergency. For me, it was money well spent. This test light is most definitely not designed for constant professional use. (I mean, if you replace the clamp with a heavy duty clamp, I'm sure it will hold up. Just not as sold. Which is why for professional use, I recommend spending the extra $$$$ and purchasing a professional level Test Light instead of this Do-It-Yourself designed Test Light. It functions perfectly for the purpose for which it was designed.)

R**.
light works as described, but it's just not high quality. Feels fragile and cheap. Get what you pay for.
