I love this wire, it is just what I wished I had found earlier.
This is great low Voltage wire, I find it perfectly for wiring added added twelve Volt appliances and lights to my electric wheel chair. It takes a bit to learn to strip the black outer coating, then the two internal wires. Nice and flexible while staying sturdy. Ron W4BIN Youvan

odd spec wire
The spec on this is interesting. At the thinnest point the exterior coating is as thin as the interior colored, but of a different material. Neither insulation material is very heat resistant. I counted the copper strands on mine, the 'copper' was indeed copper and had the proper layup too. It is a moderate flex layup so the outer molding will keep the bend radius under control during installation/working. This is what you pay for, so no worries about carrying the rated current. The red/white insulation inside the black over-molding cannot withstand even moderate heat from soldering and is similar to what I've see on wirewraping wire... fragile. So I'd recommend crimp-only and strain relief on the over-mold only. Restating that this is not CCA--it is fully-copper as advertised. Due to the extreme thickness and weight of this, I likely won't try it again, but it is safe and that is something to brag about when you purchase from amazon/ebay lately. If you can tolerate the size and weight and other limits of the spec, this is a good wire.... just not for me. I'd rather have something a little thinner/lighter overall and with better spec insulation. I used it in a control box in a controlled environment with low voltage. Tie-wraps hold it tightly and didn't damage the over-molding for me.

Good stuff
I have been using this in my van for 12 volt applications. Insulation is beefy good value for sure quality was impressive the flexibility makes this easy to use. Copper appears to be average grade.

Is good for use on a boat
This is wire that I use in my boat. I trust copper wire in marine applications, not copper clad aluminum wire.
