this replacement kickstand comes with the Y-screwdriver you need to remove the case screws, and replacement philips-head screws to replace them with. Y-screws strip quite easily so this is a good quality of life feature. it comes with a printed manual! it's short and easy to read, it shows you which screws need to be removed in what order. this took me less than 15 minutes to assemble. pros: doesn't fall out or get lost. sturdy and works just as well as the original stand. cons: doesn't "click" into the open position. not necessary when using normally, but it does mean you have to hold it open when inserting an sd card.

Exactly what we needed. My son bought a used Original Switch and needed this kickstand. I tried to 3D print a couple models but none of them stayed in place so I thought I would give this a shot for $15 (especially since it came with the little screwdrivers needed to install). Took me all of about 5 mins to put it in. Best advice is to make sure you have a clear and open space to work on it. The screws are tiny, like smaller than an ant tiny so you wanna keep track of them and where they go; but overall a 10/10 recommend this product!! As for using it as a “kickstand”, we haven’t tried but also don’t plan on it. Was more for the microSD protector. Pictures are after it was installed.

Easy to install, quality hand tools sent with it. Worth the cost to have my device back in one piece. Looks great, clicks right into place like it was always there. I like the rubberized rib at the bottom has a good grip and doesn’t slide. My only complaint would be that it didn’t stay open on its own, the original would click into an open position but that is minor.

Gets the job done but feels flimsy

The original kickstand on the Nintendo switch is a bit lacking. This updated part was worth the money as it doesn't just snap in via pressure contacts like the OEM one, so it's a lot less likely to come apart or fall out of its retainer. I feel that this was more than easy enough to install and did not take very long at all. Go slow and lay out your fasteners so you can put them all back in order to avoid mix ups. The price is definitely worth it. The only drawback (and where I took a star off) is much like some of the other people who have purchased this kit have said, is that the tools included look and feel nice but the tips on those screwdrivers will tend to wear / damage the heads of the screws. Having read the reviews before I bought the kit I tried to make sure to fully insert the screwdriver tip into the head of the screw and maintain even pressure so it doesn't slip out or damage the fasterers but that still kind of happened. Fortunately enough I have a decent quality electronic screwdriver repair kit and was able to use that to complete the repair. For me I would definitely buy the kickstand again but I might also recommend purchasing the appropriate screwdrivers of better quality separately.

Got this thinking it’d be just a cheap alternative for my broken OEM, but is surprisingly a great alternative! The stand is pretty sturdy, definitely holds the Switch well and the screwdrivers are SO GOOD!! I opt to use these over the repair kit I specifically bought for Switch repair, they seem to have magnetic tips and they fit very well.

Screws provided are NOT meant for the kickstand. It WILL poke a whole through your backplate like it did mine. Not sure who decided to include screws not meant for the product itself on top of not including the needed screws. Not to mention the ones provided will strip extremely easily in case you realize they aren't the right screws a little too late.
