Very much worth it!
Amazing Coil Spring Compressor. Tried the version with the 4 hooks to capture the spring and had nothing but problems. Felt very unstable. Then tried the version with 2 hooks and a flat wedge. That was sooooo, much worse. The wedge helicoptered out while trying to install the spring. Damage was done!!This tool from Ares feels substantial and safe. Everything locks together very nicely. Nothing spun or flew out. Fought the other tools for hours. With this one I was done in less than 30 minutes. Yes, it costs more than a cheap tool but it's so much better than a visit to the hospital or fixing any damage to the car. Strongly Recommended.

Safest one ever
This thing is awesome. It compressed the spring instantly and did not feel unsafe at all.

Wouldn't fit.
Did not fit my E350 Mercedes springs.

2001 Chevy Silverado with 1-1/2 inch spacers
this is a great product, I used it to install new springs on a 2001 Chevy Silverado with a 1.5 inch leveling spacer kit. I felt very safe and confident with this compressor. I tried to use a rental that kept slipping and popping off the spring. this tool works great

Great product but *not* compatible with Fiats in the USA.
This is a really well-made spring compressor for coil springs that are commonly found on cars with separate shock absorbers. In other words, it is not intended for MacPherson struts. The alternative to a disc-style compressor like this is one with hooks, and those things are downright dangerous. I have rarely seen a spring compressor that supports the use of an impact wrench, and that's another big plus. And I can affirm that an impact wrench makes short work of compressing a spring with this tool.BUT if you have a Fiat - do not be fooled by the fact that Fiats are listed in the description. When I got the tool, there turns out to be a list of specific Fiats supported that is more specific than the web description... none of which have ever been sold in the USA. Oops. The Fiats we got here with coil springs - the 124s in particular, can't use this tool because the discs in the tool are too large in diameter. In my case, I had the spring out already and quickly compressed it, only to find out that the compressed spring would not fit into the car without trapped by the suspension components when I released the spring tension. I tried three different orientations of the discs to no avail. I am going to try the Schwaben coil spring compressor for Mercedes-Benz; it comes with two different sizes of disc, from ECS Tuning or Pelican Racing. It does not support use with an impact wrench but I'm hoping its smaller disc will work. I have a lot of respect for ARES tools, and maybe they will make a version of this tool with smaller discs someday.
