Distance measurement at a great price.
We purchased these cameras along with their companion, the OAK-PoE, for industrial use. We are able to get accurate distance measurement using only imagery at distances as great as 200 feet. The onboard processing, documentation and sample demo code are fantastic value. These cameras are worth 5x the cost.

the obvious choice for computer visions projects!
OAK-D is easiest smart camera to get started building computer vision and AI projects. 4k camera, hardware accelerated video encoding and as much inferencing power as a jetson TX2! There is a large With Intel Dropping realsense, this is the best path forward. you can even use it as a webcam!

Why yes, you do need to know how to program
To counter a review from another Paul, of course you need to program. Or at least know how to download and run a program from a command line. It is not a web cam. It is not a Kinect replacement. It is intended for doing spatial AI work; custom robots, drones, medical devices, object tracking, etc. It is an amazing device with an embedded vision processing unit and IMU at a price that is comparable to or less than "just cameras" from many competitors. It's imperfect (e.g., stereo depth is limited to start with and is not aided by IR emitters & default depth-of-field is a bit narrow), but especially considering price, it's best in class by a mile in most of it's intended use cases.
