Great Watch
I've had this watch for over 2 months now. It is my second Seiko watch but my first automatic watch. I haven't wound it once since I bought it. One thing that is hard to get used to is adjusting the watch manually for every month that isn't 31 days long. I got so used to the digital watches doing that automatically it seemed like a challenge at first. But you get used to it. It is comfortable, looks good and isn't that hard to setup.

Happy with this Seiko!
Pretty good little watch for 39 mm, used to wearing bigger watches. Very comfortable and keeps very good time.

You get what you pay for
Have been wearing this for about a week now in various settings and overall, I'm happy with the purchase. Here are a few of my thoughts. The looks: Yeah, I love this look. To me it looks like a cleaner Hamilton Khaki field (which is what this watch is going to be compared against by pretty much everyone including myself). Crazy super legible. I work in a field where I need to be able to look down and know the time in a split second, and this delivers. It fits on my smaller-than-average wrists quite nicely, is comfortable, and not noticeably heavy at all. A tad thick for days I am wearing dress shirts as it sometimes doesn't slide under the cuff quite so easily. The hardlex crystal is quite domed and when looking at the watch face at more than a 45degree angle will distort (though I kinda like this look). However, I was kinda expecting this thing to be more of a strap-monster than what I am finding it to be. Apart from various black bands (like the decent calf-skin leather band that comes with it - which is much nicer than the metal bracelets of the other SRPG models), really only single shade straps seem to work with it, and I haven't liked any of the brown straps that I have tried on it. I included a few pics of it in various straps. Lume: Kinda disappointing to be honest. Hard to see the indices. I also don't think the lume lasts nearly as long as my other (more expensive) Seiko's. I like that they lumed the second hand though. Had they lumed the numerals and upgraded nothing else it really would have made this a no brainer at this price. The Movement: Greatly improved over past Seiko 5's I've owned. I love being able to manually wind and have second hacking. I think without these upgrades it just couldn't grab enough market share from the Khaki fields. I'm currently getting bout +5 seconds a day, which I can definitely live with. Other thoughts: I love the drilled lugs. Makes changing bands super easy. Had I gone with one of the silver steel options I think it would be more versatile with more colorful bands. At this price you are going to be hard pressed to find a sapphire crystal watch that looks like this, so I am a bit worried about scratching it up. The Hamilton Khaki fields that to me looks the closest to this watch is the Titanium Auto H70665533 (which is significantly more money and a 42mm), and the Khaki Field mechanical, which is still about $200 more than this Seiko SRPG41. The Khaki fields are arguably some of the best bang for your bucks available, but again are more expensive. I decided to go with the SRPG41 as I just liked the look of the dial more than the Khaki field enough to want to save myself a few hundred bucks. I think for the price you are paying, you are getting your money's worth. It's good watch; just nothing super special unless you are like me and love how it looks.

Pristine
After doing tons of research and a budget set by the wife I landed on this bad boy. I had a smart watch for a few years and decided I wanted something real. Keeping -3 sec a day. And great lume. Very legible and minimal. Very good first watch but probably won't be the last...

Seiko SRPG41 Watch
Fantastic watch. So far it is keeping perfect time and day/date. I love the watch look and the fit & finish. The band is very robust and looks like it should hold up very well.

What is important to know …
I do not recommend the Seiko Automatic (4R36), if accustomed to quartz watches. • Does not come with a paper instruction manual. It must be downloaded as pdf from their web site. o Manual warns not to set Day/Date between 9pm and 4am, as it “may cause damage”. Mine is apparently damaged. I cannot use the instructions to set Day/Date, but I have to use a work around. • Accuracy is measured per day for this mechanical watch, not the months or years available in quartz watches. Manual winding of the mainspring is recommended daily. • Mainspring operation is only rated for 41 hours. The automatic wind feature requires wearing the watch a least 10h per day. • The watch band appears to be Additive Manufactured using a flexible polymer. I immediately changed it to an elastic nylon (WOCCI). I have had Seiko watches for the past 42 years, and this model 4R36 is the worst example.

This design is beautiful. Very solid, and high quality feel. Unfortunately it has turned out to be a very expensive waste of money. From the start it kept very poor time. It would gain at least a minute per day. Then it started stopping completely at random times. I wound it every day, but it would often stop while resting on a table over night. I've never sent a product back before, but I'm definitely returning this one.
