Great Gift!!
Bought as a birthday gift for my son. He was very pleased after his first use. Started with cocktail peanuts from the grocery store bin that he chopped per the instructions before using. There was some tweaking to adjust the (peanut) oil flow. The ground product came out of the spigot as a rectangular ribbon that was fairly dry even when the oil flow was set to maximum. He wound up stirring in some additional oil to get the texture he liked. After reading the comments about the mixture of aluminum and plastic parts, I decided to add on the 4 year warranty. After looking at the pieces I don't think there'll be any problem in home usage, where my son is only making a pint of peanut butter every couple of weeks. Still I feel good that he should be able to get several years of service out of it.

it grinds the nuts into more like a dry mealy paste
Doesn't make peanut butter, it grinds the nuts into more like a dry mealy paste. The main metal casting broke on the first (and only) use. The manufacturer's contact info doesn't appear on the Amazon site or anywhere else I looked on the web so they get a zero on customer service. Very difficult to disassemble and clean. Very poor documentation. Do yourself a favor and use a food processor. Makes much better peanut butter, is much easier to disassemble and goes in a dishwasher.

The result was nuts were grind and looked like powder rather than creamy
Does not make peanut butter as it shows on video. The result was nuts were grind and looked like powder rather than creamy. Cleaning the equipment is not simple, disengaging the parts and placing back them to gather also takes lots of work and time. dave

you must modify the process they describe. but worked.
OK, so, I give this a high rating with this in mind. You really can't put whole nuts in it. I already used to run the nuts through the food processor til they were ground down. Before I got this, I had to next run them through a coffee grinder forever. With this one, it says you may have to use the food processor. YOU WILL have to. Next, you'll want to forget about the oil dispenser that is the lid. I had to put an entire ladle full of coconut oil in the ground nuts. but you should make sure you have oil in the nuts in the shank as well. Then I had to push the nut oil mixture through or down the shank to get the butter to come out. But it is a LOT faster and can make more at one time than my old method. The motor began to smell so I will time how long I use it and let it rest 10 minutes or so before I use it again. all that's left is how long till the motor breaks down will advise

Heads up! The photo makes the grinding mechanism look as if it is all cast aluminum. It's not!
The seller is great. Fast delivery and exactly what I ordered. The product, however, is cheaply made. Heads up! The photo makes the grinding mechanism look as if it is all cast aluminum. It's not! It works well for now. But the stress of grinding is applied directly to the plastic parts with cast aluminum as the grinding screw. Using a hard material to grind against a soft material will absolutely cause stress cracks in the softer material. In this case, the cast plastic. It works well, but cannot last.

Disappointing
So far I'm pretty disappointed. The first batch I made was almond butter with grapeseed oil. It turned out really really chunky even though I followed the recipe precisely. I added salt afterwards and mixed in with a spatula. I cleaned the device fillowing the instructions and after everything dried overnight, reassembled and tried again. The recipe also stated that, for drier nuts like almonds, more oil may be needed. So, hoping I could get a less chunky texture, I added half again as much oil as indicated in the recipe, but this time nothing came out. The auger wouldnt pull anything through. I again cleaned the device, let it dry and reassembled. The third time I pre-chopped the almonds (also indicated in the book so the device didnt have to "work so hard") and added the same oil as above, and it still didnt come out except a few puffs of powdered almonds and almond chunks. In each time I verified the oil was coming out and I turned the oil holder. On the 3rd attempt I also verified the auger was turning prior to putting in the ingredients. In each case, in order to not waste the food, I had to finish the butter in a small food processor. It took about 20 minutes to get to a constistancy that wasnt too chunky, but seems to me might be a lot cheaper to grind almonds in a coffee grinder then use a small food chopper/mixer (I got mine for $6 at the market) and mix it in there with salt and oil. No 3rd step here to mix the salt in afterwards.

Fun to do with the grandkids. They love making it and eating it. Favorites are cashews and sun flower seeds.

I did not use it very much yet only couple of times, work's good the only thing I give four stars is it does not grind very smooth or I did not find the way how to do it yet, overall I like it is very sturdy machine
