summary: great product and easy to install Pros: works great easy to install, even easier with the bumper off. Cons: cheap crimp style butt connectors included. Read below for my complete experience. Installed this product on a 2016 V6 Chevy Colorado LT at the same time I was replacing the lackluster factory hitch, with a class IV manufactured by Draw-Tite ASIN: B00RBG32I8. The install is straight forward. I had already removed the bumper due to the fact I was installing a new hitch, but I'd recommend going through the trouble even if you aren't replacing the hitch. The color coding does not match between the factory wiring and this product, but on the back-side of the cardboard insert of this product it does have an accurate color conversion for convenience. The included crimp style butt connectors are cheap and in my honest opinion should be skipped. I used heat-shrink style crimp on butt connectors such as ASIN: B079DQFC59 , to prevent any corrosion in the long term. I am an electronics technician, so I spent a little extra time weather proofing the wiring and connectors, but this is probably unnecessary. After completing the crimping, I removed the old "dummy" plug with a small flat head screw driver and tossed it in a box and snapped the new receptacle in place. I then reached back under the bumper and plugged the connector into the receptacle. This was for sure one of the cleanest and easiest installs of a trailer wiring adapter I have done to date. With the attention to detail and care that I put into the process, it took me all of an hour. One thing to mention is that unless you have the factory towing package that includes the brake controller (I doubt that if you're reading this you do" you will not magically have the trailer brake abilities. You will still need to purchase a trailer brake controller. The wiring will be dead ended at the drivers side kick panel. With the exception of the brake controller functionality the rest of the wiring worked great and is of top notch quality.

My truck didn't come with a towing package and I had to install it myself. I got tired of having the trailer wires just hanging from the bottom of my bumper. I bought this and it was a direct fit into the spot where the blank was stuck. Wired it in and it works great. Now my plug is both protected from the elements when not in use and no longer dangles from under the truck.

Don't walk away because it is not listed as compatible to your car/truck. I do not own any of the cars/trucks this is compatible with. This is the best connector if you want a 7-way or even better a 7/4-way connector so you have both as needed by the trailer you happen to tow. The strong points: 1. It has waterproof covers for each connector, with rubber gasket. Terminals come full of electric grease. 2. Both connectors have lids with springs 3. The 7 way connector is placed 90 degrees rotated so the height is less than the height of the trailer's receiver. When adding the bracket it gets a little over the receiver height. Great for cars with lower clearance! 4. It comes with a harness and a waterproof connector in the back, so you can take the bumper/hitch off without cutting the harness! No need for rubber boots/bulky harness in the back as everything is water proof with rubber gaskets on the harness connector and on each wire. 5. It clips into the bracket securely. Bracket not included. Search for Hopkins 40978 or many of the other providers at lower price. I'm installing it on a 2009 Subaru Outback and a DrawTite hitch but the car and the hitch does not matter as long as you get some kind of bracket adapter like Curt C57202 or Tow Ready 18140, or weld the Hopkins bracket directly to the hitch. Great product!

The instructions were great, easy to install. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was that the length of the wires seemed short. If I had made a mistake and had to re-do any of them, I don't know if it would have reached. Fortunately the chart on the packaging was accurate and everything worked well, but another 6" of wires would have left me some wiggle room if it didn't. Also, I substituted some heat-shrink butt connectors for the ones they supplied, and shrunk those into place with a heat gun. Not absolutely necessary but anything to prevent water & corrosion from giving me grief a couple years down the road. But the wiring all worked great!

Came with easy to follow instructions, I was able to find several you tube videos on others that installed the product. Very straight forward and easy to install. Direct fit for my vehicle and looks like it was installed at the factory with minimal effort! Very happy with purchase and has a 7 way as well as 4 way flat plug hookups.

Very good product, installation straight forward, used heat shrink splices instead of what came in package. Description said that there was 2 feet of wire for connections but this one had just under one foot, just barely enough to do the job. Best to get it right the first time!
