Using these in (3) Custom 3D Printers
Works great! I am using these for the XY motion system on (2) Octopus Pro and (1) Manta M8P V2. They work great. I just use the 2209’s for Z because I don’t see the need for 5160’s on Z.

Super quiet, feature packed and a great investment.
Outside of the 5500 series these are the best at what they do, extremely quiet drivers with all the features you’d want making nighttime printing noise a thing of the past.

Defective module (1 of 2)
One of the modules did not work - as I was unable to change Vref - it is stuck at 60mV. Also, the chip gets hot on the defective module. Note that these modules are not breadboard friendly - may have to bend couple of pins (INDEX/DIAG) to get it to fit on breadboard. These boards are not meant for general purpose use and have already been configured for UART model by adding resistor across jumper J2. Did not work in STEP/DIR mode - so the title is misleading - as some soldering work is needed.

TMC2209 Driver: A Quiet Upgrade
Switching to TMC2209 drivers from the older DRV8825s significantly reduced the noise in my projects. These drivers operate so quietly, it's a noticeable improvement for anyone aiming to minimize sound. I installed the TMC2209s on a DRV8825 shield/expansion board that I found on Amazon, and they fit well. There are a couple of extra pins that don't connect to anything, but they're not needed for the driver to work effectively. One thing to keep in mind is the microstepping capability of the TMC2209s, which goes down to 1/8th. This might result in slower movement compared to some other drivers, but the reduction in noise and smooth operation more than compensates for the slight dip in speed.

They work as expected... configuration research required!
These worked perfectly fine on a BTT Octopus 1.1 for the X/Y steppers.... after a lot of research on configuration. It seems that these use an SPI interface instead of UART. This means that the hardware jumpers must be set to correct positions and also the firmware must be properly configured. This configuration is not well documented, so, happy hunting and good luck!

Make sure you wire according to the datasheet
If you're working with a microcontroller and not a prebuilt board, be sure your logic voltage and your motor voltage are going to the right pin. The datasheet is correct, I got a module with a poorly labeled pin. Always check the datasheet.

Not all of them work every time
One of these went up in smoke right out the packaging. Besides that, the other ones been holding up great.

Grazie
