Q: What is the advantage of this over the folding model?

Hi there, mifold is our original product. It folds up so it is particularly compact and portable. mifold one is a newer product. It works in exactly the same way as mifold but does not fold up. We found that more and more people were using mifold on can everyday basis and leaving it in their vehicles so they did not require the fold up feature. Hence mifold one was born - basically it is a non folding version of mifold. They both work in exactly the same way. So in answer to your question mifold and mifold one offer the same safety features and have the same age and weight requirements but mifold folds up and mifold one remains flat! Thanks for pointing this out, the asterisk should lead to the footnote "The mifold grab-and-go booster seat is safety tested and meets or exceeds the US-based Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard: FMVSS 213 as defined by NHTSA (the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). International versions also meet or exceed ECE R44.04 in the EU, and RSSR from Transport Canada."

Q: Saying flat and booster seems to be contradictory how much does it "boost" or lift up?

It brings the belt to the kid instead of boosting the kid up to the belt. These are great for y’all kids like mine who still need the belt brought down off their tummy but can sit comfortably in a standard car.

Q: How does the seat belt fit across the top of the body? Does it fit tight around the neck?

It goes through the allotted loop to make the belt placement correct for your child. You move the red clip 1 inch above shoulders , put it through and your done. No it is not around the neck as that would be unsafe. This makes the belt placement safe for children
