I bought this for my family and took to another country but after assembling, it starts turning on and off continuously and we had to remove. And there is no return or at least repair option! A big Loss

NOTE: I have tried The low power Eneloop "lite" rechargeable batteries, the white and black ones too, and none of them work. So the only batteries that can be used to power this, are non-rechargeable batteries. For example, "Energizer AAA Alkaline Power" can be used once the supplied batteries run dry. I recently bought Energizer AAA batteries to test, so i can confirm they work perfectly. Shame, because rechargeable batteries are obviously the better solution. Review: I got this for my grandmother, but now I'm thinking of getting myself one! (I seen them going £11 cheaper on the high street so I'll pick one up) UPDATE: bought another one from here on Amazon since they were on sale. Good bit of kit. My grandmother is very happy with it now that she no longer has to stand on her tip toes to look through the spyhole. Sadly I'm now on the hook to patch up her council house door, as i had to cut away the rubbish plastic detailing around the two slot windows on either side in order to fit it flush enough that i could fix it onto the awkwardly placed screw hole. The picture quality is probably like the 3MP cameras you'd have got on phones back in the early 2000's, it's not too bad for the close ups like this thing will be focused for, and the picture is actually decent to the point if the police ever have to get pictures off it they'd be happy with the resolution. I haven't tried adding an SD card yet so i can't comment about that function, or how pictures are formatted, and whether they can be read on a Windows PC or not. Although I'm sure that Yale have thought all about those sorts of things, and everything will be fine, at least i hope so anyway. One thing i did notice, is that you may need to fashion some kind of sun hood for this, because it can blur out (white out?) faces sometimes. My advice to make one, is get yourself a sanding drum a little bigger than the camera housing and sand down a spare bit of wood and use super strong glue to attach it. At least, that's what i have in mind for making a sun hood. I'll take a picture and upload it here when i get around to doing it.

I installed this for a friend after she had issues trying to get a Ring product to work with her Android phone. She just wanted something simple to operate to be able to view who was at her door since her door peephole lens was not sufficient. The installation was easy, very good instructions, but I did have to slightly increase the size of the peephole on the metal exterior door. Best to use a reamer or a step drill bit. She was ecstatic when I turned it on. Clear quality video without washout from the sunlight. Also works well at night with her motion sensing porch light. This was a very simple solution for her requirement without having to deal with all the complications of wireless devices. Well worth the money. I highly recommend.

( jaar)
