I discovered many years ago that the little cans of tomato paste I grew up with had almost no flavor at all. I’d sauté them in olive oil, add seasoning, but they still had very little flavor. You couldn’t use just a few tablespoons, as the rest would spoil. Then I discovered those curious aluminum toothpaste tubes of double or triple concentrated tomato paste from Italy. It only took a few tablespoons to add great depth and complexity to a soup, sauce, or stew, and one tube lasted a long time, as you could reseal it. I’ve been using a variety of concentrated tomato pastes, but not long ago I read that Mutti is the biggest selling brand of tomato paste in Italy. That means something, as Italy is a country where people take cooking and ingredients seriously. It’s a place where neighboring regions or cities can argue endlessly about whose version of ricotta is best, who invented tortellini, and whether the Neapolitans or the Romans make the best pizza. They should know a thing or two about tomato paste, and they do. This may well be the best tomato paste I have yet tried. I can’t say without buying half a dozen tubes and spending an afternoon tasting tomato paste, and I’m not going to do that. But I can say that this is a superior tomato paste, with excellent depth of flavor.

You get alot for a reasonable price. As you see I haven't used it all yet. It makes a difference in your recipes.

Wow! This stuff makes the difference! I use it for all sorts of stews and pastas, not only as the traditional tomato paste but for a flavor enhancer for many dishes. It really adds a depth of flavor and the Mutti brand is superior over others!

I purchased this product perhaps a year earlier, and got a 12-pack with a "best by" date that was one month out. The price was great. The product is also great, and I don't expect that tomato paste in a sealed metal tube is going to degrade significantly as time passes. Let me be clear. The product is terrific, and i was happy with my purchase. When I bought this again recently, I fully expected that it would again be near the "best by" date. When I first looked at the "best by" date, I thought it was early 2025, and the product was already past its "best by" date. I looked at it again, in better light, and lo and behold, it was 2026. So with that correction of my error, this is an absolutely fantastic buy. Glad my original review draft had not been submitted, and I had a chance to correct it. Bottom line. If you have never tried this product, you should. It is great. Everyone who I have given tubes to has asked where I bought it and expressed an interest in buying it from me if I ordered more. I am happy to give it to friends who appreciate the product as much as I do. You find more and more uses for it as time passes.

I have tried different brands and prefer this one. However--this time I received ones with a 2 month expiration date. That is too short. Will not be purchasing again.

This solves the problem of how to store tomato paste if you don't use the whole can. Delicious tasting, easy to add to recipes. Lasts a long time in the refrigerator, does not mold.

Great product

Wow! I'm a 71-year-old healthy male on keto. I just discovered this and I am blown away by the taste and quality. A few times a day I'll take about an inch long line of the paste, put it in my mouth and let it dissolve. Yum. I haven't figured out how I want to incorporate it in my cooking... ... Two more wows. In reference to other reviews, each tube came in its own box, both boxes were plastic wrapped together, and there were no leaks.
